UNC Charlotte NinerAlert: As a result of deteriorating weather conditions from Hurricane Helene, the University will move to Condition 1 (reduced operations) beginning at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 26, and continuing until 11:59 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27.
All classes that start at 5 p.m. or later are moved to online learning beginning on Thursday, Sept. 26.
The Charlotte region will continue to see heavy rains and wind, which will result in difficult travel conditions and possible power outages. You should monitor your local weather conditions carefully and use caution if choosing to travel.
Faculty: All classes should move to remote learning after 5 p.m. on Thursday and all day Friday. You are encouraged to be understanding with students who may be experiencing local weather conditions that could hinder connectivity. Make sure to communicate directly with students about any changes to your class schedule. Refer to these schedule interruption guidelines for more information.
Employees: The University remains open during Condition 1. Offices that cannot effectively carry out their function remotely must maintain minimum staffing levels. Employees who are permitted to do so by their managers are encouraged to work remotely.
Managers: Please use your discretion and work with any employee who is scheduled to report to campus but is unable to do so. These options may include remote work, making up time, time off, etc. Should you have any questions about managing employees’ time, please refer to the Kronos timekeeping system FAQs.
Students: Please plan to learn remotely through Friday. Monitor your email closely for information from your professors. Make sure to communicate directly with your faculty members if you are unable to attend class because of connectivity issues.
