CALL FOR APPLICATIONS | UNESCO SCRS RESEARCH CONTINUITY GRANTS FOR AFRICA Keeping science alive through crises. Protecting research. Building resilience. Has your natural-science research been interrupted by conflict, a natural hazard or a biological hazard? This is an opportunity to get your research back on track. UNESCO’s Science for Crisis Response and Solutions (SCRS) Programme is launching its first Research Continuity Grants for Africa, providing six institutional grants of up to USD 2,000 each to eligible researchers based at recognised universities and research institutes in Africa. The grants are designed to help researchers resume or complete critical parts of interrupted research, preserve valuable scientific data, sustain research teams and protect investments already made in scientific work. Who should consider applying? Researchers whose natural-science research has been interrupted by a crisis and who need targeted support to preserve, resume or complete a clearly defined component of their work. UNESCO particularly encourages applications from: •Women researchers. •Scientists under the age of 40. •Scientists from Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and Small Island Developing States (SIDS) in Africa. Why does this matter? When crises disrupt research, the consequences extend beyond laboratories and institutions. Valuable data can be lost, experiments abandoned, fieldwork left incomplete and scientific capacity weakened. Even a small grant can help safeguard years of work and ensure that important research continues to contribute to knowledge, innovation and development. Through this pilot initiative, UNESCO also seeks to learn from researchers’ experiences and strengthen future support for scientific research continuity across Africa. Are you an eligible researcher, or do you know someone who should apply? Share this opportunity with universities, research institutions, scientists and research networks across Africa. Help ensure that promising research does not come to a standstill because of a crisis. Apply, share and help keep African science moving forward. Deadline: 15 November 2026 at 23:59 Paris time. Please complete all sections and email all attachments to [email protected]. Additionally, please include the name of the applicant and "Attachments for SCRS Research Continuity Grants for Africa" in the subject line of your email. Online application form: forms.cloud.microsoft/pages/… For more information: unesco.org/en/articles/call-… #UNESCO #ScienceForCrisis #ResearchContinuity #AfricanScience #ResearchResilience #ScienceForDevelopment
