It’s been #3YearsTooLong. A brutal civil war that’s left communities across #Sudan utterly devastated.   Civilians are still being killed. The healthcare system has largely collapsed. Extreme poverty is rapidly increasing. And we’re witnessing the world's largest displacement and hunger crisis, with +24 million people facing acute food insecurity. Enough. Let’s not allow this to be an abandoned crisis. The international community must urgently step up support – to help find the solutions needed to end this conflict, protect civilians, and avert a further humanitarian catastrophe. @UN_Sudan

🌳🌳 On today’s International Day of Forests @UNOPS renews its commitment to protect world's forests and the people living in them. Forests are essential to provide ecosystem services - capturing CO2, protecting biodiversity and providing clean air and water. But forests also drive economic prosperity and generate jobs. We must protect forests and we must support the people who live in them to have basic services. A special emphasis is needed on tropical forests: 1) They regulate the systems we all rely on. 2) But the dramatic loss of tropical forests further enhances climate change, biodiversity loss and water insecurity.  That’s why it is so crucial to fully implement the truly ambitious “Tropical Forest Forever Facility” launched at #COP30 in #Brazil.
