Congratulations to my longtime friend Mark Dybul on returning to lead the @GlobalFund. Mark’s decades of global health leadership make him the right leader at the right time to guide the Global Fund’s next chapter at this pivotal moment.
Since 2002, the Global Fund has helped to save 72 million lives and reduce the combined death rate from AIDS, TB, and malaria by 65% in countries where it invests.

While there have been ups and downs behind the scenes, it’s terrific to see US pay nearly $800 million to UN 👏. And the fantastic news of @LukeJLindberg as the new head of @WFP. Significant steps as we head into UNGA next week.

25 years ago, I was heading downtown to attend a 9:30 am meeting at the White House. I could already see smoke coming from the Pentagon as I drove into town. As my husband rushed to get the boys from school, I watched the streets quickly filling with those tanks. Today, we must pay tribute to the lost souls, the extraordinary heroes and re-dedicate ourselves to ensuring we are using all of the tools to keep America 🇺🇸 safe - from the spirit of coming together as Americans to addressing instability and threats before they reach our shores.
We have much to remember and learn from the strength and unity that came from that dark day.

Encouraged with today's House passage of short-term CR w/strong bipartisan vote to keep the government open and avert a costly shutdown. Important signal to the world with continued support for critical diplomacy, international assistance, and a two-year extension of the #AGOA, Africa Growth and Opportunity Act. Still important work ahead: 1) completion of full-year funding bills after the election; 2) ensuring previously approved funding for @StateDept and international assistance - critical to advancing our issues - are put to use before they expire at end of September!

What does the war in Ukraine mean for America’s security—and what happens if the United States disengages from the world?
On this episode of Peace and Power Ukraine, host @Garymarx is joined by @LizSchrayer, President and CEO of the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition, and retired U.S. Air Force Lt. Gen. Dick Newton, a member of USGLC’s National Security Advisory Council, for a wide-ranging discussion about Ukraine, American global leadership, and the growing cooperation among U.S. adversaries. Newton examines how Ukraine has survived years of Russian attacks and transformed modern warfare through drones, emerging technology, and rapid battlefield innovation.
The conversation then turns to North Korea’s support for Russia and what its involvement in Ukraine could mean for security far beyond Europe. Schrayer discusses American public opinion toward Ukraine and argues that support for Kyiv should be understood not as charity, but as an investment in U.S. national security. She and Newton also examine diplomacy with Moscow, continued U.S. military support, sanctions, and the relationship between the war in Ukraine and the strategic challenge posed by China.

Thank you @GaryMarx for hosting me and my friend Lt. General Richard Newton for a wide-ranging conversation on your show, @PeaceAndPower_.
Zeroed in on why standing with #Ukraine is firmly in America’s national interest - covering everything from how Putin’s war is impacting our interests to the growing alignment among our adversaries —Russia, Iran, North Korea, and China.
As we discussed - military strength matters enormously—but so do effective diplomacy and international assistance. They are critical tools to American strength and to building a lasting peace.

Great to see my friend Ambassador Kip Tom in Indy yesterday. Kip was just named the head of a major effort to modernize USDA’s farm-data system. This initiative is long overdue, and Kip will bring Hoosier common-sense to this effort.

After the very, very sad loss of Senator Lindsey Graham, who was a singular force in elevating American soft power, it is hard to imagine anyone better prepared to carry his legacy forward than @SenatorCollins as she takes the gavel at Senate SFOPS - particularly on global health which has always been a priority for her.
@USGLC was proud to honor Senator Collins as a Champion of U.S. Global Leadership in 2024, and we look forward to continuing our work together.

On this day 14 years ago, @USGLC honored Senator Lindsey Graham at our 2012 Tribute Celebration for championing international assistance and his forceful defense of American "soft power" to better our world and advance our interests. His legacy on these issues is truly consequential — and his loss will be deeply felt from this community.
