Patrick Kirby was born with a rare heart condition that, decades later, became a serious threat to his health.
After years of monitoring, tests showed his condition had worsened. Patrick was referred to Anthony Estrera, MD, a cardiothoracic surgeon at UT Physicians, who reviewed more than a decade of his medical history and developed a plan to protect his heart and future.
Just months later, Patrick underwent surgery to replace his damaged heart valve and repair part of his aorta. After six days in the hospital, he was on his way home and toward recovery.
Today, Patrick is back to enjoying life, crediting Dr. Estrera and his care team with helping him get back to making special memories with the people he loves.
