Anyway massive thanks to the team at @UWSstudents for the invite. You can see why it keeps winning SU of the year in Scotland. @UWSStudentPres in particular managed to turn a meeting that's technically about approving the accounts into a genuinely inspiring showcase.

After 7 years Scot gov has finally committed to rent controls! 🎉
This is a huge step towards more affordable housing and shows the leadership that we need.
The gov needs to listen to tenants and ensure rent controls bring rents down and force up quality.
We will be watching.
Come meet all our student societies and learn how to become a class representative at the UWS Freshers event!

ALT A statement from our 2021-22 and 2022-23 student leaders on the overturning of Roe v. Wade: "UWS Students' Union condemns in the strongest sense the disgraceful move by the Supreme Court of the United States to remove the legal right to abortion for millions of people. We acknoledge the impact this decision will have on abortion rights and women's rights all around the world and stand in solidarity with everyone whose rights will be taken away as a consequence of this decision. We in particular endorse the Back Off Scotland campaign for buffer zones around abortion clinics in Scotland, we support the Member's Bill by Gillian Mackay MSP, and we urge the Scottish Government to act urgently to ensure safe access to abortion for all."
