A knee jerk reaction to the nuanced mental processing of seeing a dead body for the first time fr outside of a casket and expressing frustration at a live lost when I wanted to prevent exactly that.
What was the purpose of responding if you found it pointless?
I walked away immediately after and wasn’t near any commotion but gut told me to at least try and that’s the only reason it wasn’t more traumatic when I found out what happened like at least I tried
I really blame the media for devaluing black men’s lives bc he seemed to feel like he HAD to and whatever happened to him was def an accident bc he tried so hard not to fight him. The guy that passed threw both their lives away bc he didn’t wanna be seen as weak. I’m angry af.

i am no longer afraid of things falling apart. i have seen what happens after the worst of it. the sun still rises, people still laugh, new things still begin, and one day, you find yourself happy about something you once thought you would never recover from.

The American dream now costs $5.32 million, per a new Investopedia analysis.
But a full-time worker with a bachelor’s degree earns about $3.6 million over a career, from age 25 to 64.
Add 20 years of average Social Security, and it’s still only about $4.1 million.
That leaves the average college graduate roughly $1.2 million short, before paying a dollar in taxes.
Holy fucking shit. 🙄

Spent a good portion of the past decade working to actively combat this. It hurts to see the problem exacerbated.

A lot of what people call love is really just idealisation. You’re with somebody that ignores you, you spend more time not talking than talking, there’s disrespect, rudeness, inconsistency, no security, no clear intention and no real choosing of each other, yet you’re still calling it love because you can imagine what it could look like if everything suddenly changed. That’s loving love in theory. When you actually love the reality of love, you want to be in the presence of it. You want to experience it, see it, feel it and live inside something where love is being actively embodied. You can also recognise when it isn’t there, and you don’t need to call the potential of it love just to make the connection feel more meaningful than it is.
