I mean, it’s not some radical act or anything but he made SCREAM 3 be about rapist producers and how they should be horribly murdered and then got the Weinsteins to pay for it.

craven has a reputation for being silly & not a serious filmmaker and I’ve always disagreed with that! it’s fine to just like horror for the kills, but kindly shut the hell up when adults and real critics are talking about a genre that’s way more complex than it gets credit for.

A year before he died, I was lucky to see Wes Craven at a screening of "The People Under the Stairs" where he flat out broke down the sociopolitical DNA and rage that runs through his films and what he wanted audiences to get. He'd despise what the "fans" have done to "Scream".
Wes Craven would be so disgusted. He was vehemently opposed to racism and genocide and deeply concerned with its impact on children. That’s why he got into making horror movies. It was always a political act. Makes me sad to see it come to this.

After how obnoxious and insufferable the "Wicked" fanbase was last year, this is deliciously fitting. * even if I'd say Grande deserved the nomination here over last year.

Now that "Emilia Pérez" is out of the way, the remaining films of the year I'm personally most excited for are: “All We Imagine as Light” “A Complete Unknown” “Flow” “Gladiator II” “Nosferatu” “The Piano Lesson” “Queer” “The Seed of the Sacred Fig”

Every time it's rewatched, it becomes more and more obvious "The Tree of Life" is the best film of the 21st century.

For most of #EmiliaPérez, what kept coming to mind is how you know all the people who scream about the Oscars' "irrelevance" are will have insane online meltdowns over Karla Sofía Gascón's inevitable (and deserved) nomination. That aside, what a movie.

The amusing joy of getting to tell people you're seeing "Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth" projected in IMAX the night before Halloween. Should be a fun time.

This one rotates on a weekly basis between "2001: A Space Odyssey", "Barry Lyndon" and "The Shining". Given the holiday season, today, the favorite is "The Shining".
