“The Flashing Red Light in the Sky That Instantly Ended Years of Hell for American POWs, And the Exact Morse Code Message It Sent!”
In Unbroken (2014), starving, beaten prisoners of war trapped in a Japanese camp look up to see an American B-29 bomber circling overhead. Instead of bombs, it uses a flashing red light to tap out a simple Morse code message: “The war is over.”
That single signal confirmed Japan’s surrender in World War II. After years of brutal captivity, the prisoners finally realized freedom was real and the nightmare was ending.
