Solidarity with every woman who bravely reported, endured the long wait for trial, and gave evidence in court against Russell Brand. Especially those who did not receive justice today.
Everyone with a basic understanding of the criminal justice system knows that just because the verdict was "not guilty", it doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. All we know is that the jury could not be certain “beyond all reasonable doubt”.
I want to say directly to the victims: thank you and I believe you. Millions of us do.

I know Russell Brand wasn’t found guilty of all charges but MY GOD the women who gave evidence were amazing. They wouldn’t be shamed or bullied. Something really snapped in them. I heard it. So many women who never got justice are standing and cheering for you today. ❤️
What I’m gathering from reply-guys is that if their daughters were to make a historic accusation of rape towards someone even vaguely famous, they would refuse to back them due to lack of physical evidence and the passage of time.
They would want the case thrown out.

They are going to push the narrative HARD to you that Russell Brand has been jailed for being a raunchy lewd shagger. That it’s just a bunch of old harridans making stuff up for attention because he’s right wing now.
A reminder that these allegations were made and KNOWN even at the time. It was openly advised on the comedy circuit at least since I was 17/18 to stay away from him.

Really want to thank the women who reported Russell Brand.
Those who couldn't - I completely understand, and hope you got some closure today.

All jokes aside, if you get paid to make people food, and they request a topping that you have in stock on their pizza, you put it on their pizza. Your own likes or dislikes shouldn’t come into it.

If you don't want to be convicted of rape in 20 years time, don't rape anybody now.
It's a really simple concept.
Surely grounds for investigation and potential disbarment?

Russell Brand is now a convicted rapist. Understandably, the focus will be on the man himself and what he’s done, but today I’m thinking of the women who came forward. Having gone through a rape trial myself, I know just how much strength is required. Today, they’re my heroes.

They were worse than that. His barrister's arguments undermined every rape victim, apportioned blame to everyone but the rapist, and were the kind of thing only mad, drunk uncles muttered in the 19th century. I hope he has a wife, daughter or mother who gave him a thorough bollocking for it.

1 in 4 women in the UK have been raped or sexually assaulted since the age of 16
6 in 7 rapes against women in the UK are carried out by someone they know
5 in 6 women who are raped in the UK don’t report it to the police
Fewer than 3 in 100 rapes recorded by UK police in 2024 resulted in someone being charged that same year
It is an abhorrent crime committed by cowards. Every perpetrator put in prison is a blessing.

Not one single work colleague, friend or associate of Russell Brand came forward as a character witness.
If you think that being famous “Increases your chances of false allegations” but you can’t see that truthful allegations are infinitely harder to prove when someone has fame and power on their side, then I may run out of crayolas explaining it to you.
