Footy is back! First day of practice matches, starting with Old Haileybury at RSEA Park Hot day for it! ☀️

Our first win of the season comes on the most gorgeous of days on the main. I feel we might enjoy this tonight. Blacks 18-11-119 Caulfield 10-10-76

🎤👋🏼👋🏼 Is this thing on? Half time at the main and we lead Caulfield. Good first half with a big one left. 10-6-66 4-3-27

Final siren goes. A bruising encounter to say the least, but a good effort all over the ground nonetheless. Congrats to @OldBrightonFC , see you again in Round 17! Will review and reset and launch into a massive Round 2 back at the Main vs the @UniBluesFC !

24 mins down. Brighton 11.10 76 Blacks 6.6 42. Battling hard to the end!

And now the heavens have opened. Absolute grind going back and forth between the 50s. No effect on the crowd or enthusiasm here though, each side cheering each kick bump tackle and tap on with real vigour. 11 mins down Brighton 11.9 75 vs Blacks 5.4.

Three quarter time. Both sides fighting like mad for possession in the drizzle. Scores are Brighton 10.8 68 vs Blacks 5.4 34. Plenty left to play for, been a great day back at the Main so far with a bumper arvo tea. Time for a strong finish to the game Blackers!!! #goblacks

Maybe a melee charge to come out of that last passage for both Clubs… passions running high at the Uni Main. Gee it’s good to be back at the footy!

Brighton starting to win the arm wrestle with a couple of fortunate goals. 21 mins down Brighton 9.7 61 vs Blacks 5.4 34. Not being dominated by any means just Brighton clearly more efficient going forward. Territory battle with the rain too adds to the challenge!

Rain not hard but it is steady to open the third. 13 mins down and scores are Brighton 7.7 49 vs Blacks 5.4 34. Both teams managing to hit the scoreboard despite the weather. #goblacks

Rain getting more consistent now. Turned into a real down the line type game. Time to get to work in the trenches! 26 min down.

Getting plenty of the ball but just can’t get penetrating chances over half forward. Gus McKinna almost kicks a great goal on the run though out the back fades to the right. Gee he is lightning with the ball under his arm! 20 mins down Brighton 4.5 29 Blacks 3.3 21.

Brighton with another from general play, shot on the run from outside 50 and that skids on and rolls through. Brighton 4.5 29 vs Blacks 3.2 20. Need to wrestle some momentum here.

Brighton pull together some handballs inside 50 and convert their first from general play. Blacks now 3.2 20 Brighton 3.4 22.

Some real spirit developing now in the contest, a few cracking efforts from both sides along the Pavvy wing. Scores still the same! 8 minutes down. #goblacks
