From this morning;
•Partners from home is funding this project with assistance from PAD/Intown (not sure their involvement)
•People we’re sent to a mixture of shelters and hotels
•They dropped the ID requirement at the last minute
•They knew about the sweeps for a MONTH

Just spoke with the coordinators….the ID requirement is still there

Here in portland upward of half of all arrests are of unhoused people. Police directly target our most vulnerable for harm, there is no other solution than to oppose directly policies which harm OUR community members.
Camp evictions kill.
Legalize survival.
See you in the streets

It doesn't actually take much to disrupt a sweep. Cops are shy about abusing homeless people in front of an angry crowd. But we have to be willing to show up and be that crowd!

Okay well then can you comment on why you let unhoused folks freeze to death on the streets last winter? Or why you refused to close the jail you CAMPAIGNED on? Or why you gave APD bonuses during the uprising???
I am thrilled to officially announce that I have joined @CNN as a Political Commentator. As a @FAMU_1887 student, I applied for the coveted VJ program at @CNN and didn’t get in. To now join the team nearly 30 yrs later is a reminder that a dream deferred is never a dream denied.

From one of the unhoused people that was swept away from the Super Bowl earlier this week: “Why don’t [public officials] come & spend a day or 2 out here, and see what we’re going through?”
They would never because they are cowards and they don’t care what happens to poor people

Our community breakfast was going great until APD decided to arrest one of our own over a FUCKING PARKING SPACE
PLEASE SHARE. WE CANNOT KEEP LETTING THESE PIGS HARASS COMMUNITY ORGANIZER AND UNHOUSED FOLKS

Downtown is over saturated with “support” this “giving season” folks have more stuff than they can reasonably carry….hopefully this support lasts past the holidays

The @wylde_center, which runs the Edgewood community garden, is evicting our houseless neighbors from their shelter. Just as the temperature starts to drop, when having a safe place to keep a blanket is a life-or-death matter. How can they feel ok about this?

One protester was arrested for no apparent reason at the #StopCopCity protest this evening. Cops were on-edge, looking for excuses to harass people. If you see anyone targeted when leaving a protest, document it and get in touch!

@CommunityMvt is gonna be discussing why Cop City needs to be stopped with Morehouse students. Please share widely and if you are a student, host a watch party at your campus.

6 community members are facing charges for defending land and people from another police sweep of a homeless encampment.
We are asking that people show up to court Monday at 9:30am to show solidarity to those with charges.
Drop the charges!
Stop the sweeps!

For #WorldHomelessDay we want to recognize @LoveBeyondWalls & @UnionAtlanta. These ATL based organizations work to highlight key issues facing the homeless community. We also want to recognize @Ntl_Homeless & all organizations advocating to prevent & end homelessness nationwide.

the “worker shortage” is corporate PR spin for a capital strike. They’re holding off on hiring in an attempt to force workers to take lower wages. They even try to enlist customers on their side with those bullshit “sorry we’re slow, no one wants to work right now!” signs.

Apparently the only real public housing policy this country can create is filling up jails and prisons w/ poor people
