๐ The Sheriff Who Locked ICE Out of Her Jail Got Caught Doing 95 in a County Car With No Lights or Siren ๐
Monterey County Sheriff Tina Nieto has been pulled over by CHP three times, and the dash cam is brutal.
March 7, 2024, Highway 101 in South Monterey County, where the limit is 65. The officer tells her, "your speed of 95 and then when you passed my partner you were still at 92." She was on duty, in uniform, in her county-issued car. She wasn't answering an emergency.
The officer asks if she was running code 3, meaning lights and siren. Her answer: "They haven't upgraded my vehicle yet." No lights, no siren, 95 mph.
She drove away with a warning. "This is the second time I stopped you for your speed," the officer told her. "I don't know what it's going to take to slow down."
The first time was September 2023, the same stretch of 101. That time she was off duty in her own car at 95 and weaving in and out of traffic at about 90. She told him she wasn't feeling good, and she got a warning.
Then in May 2024 she was pulled over again for speed, in uniform. She refused to show her license and told the officer, "Call your supervisor here." After a supervisor showed up she left with another warning, and the first officer said he almost had the citation finished.
Three stops, three warnings, zero tickets. Her own statement later admitted, "I should set a better example for my community."
This is the same sheriff who says her hands are tied by the law when it comes to ICE. Apparently the speed limit is more of a suggestion.
If you or I did 95 in a 65 twice for the same officer, would we drive away with a warning?
Monterey County Told ICE to Leave Its Own Jail
Federal agents showed up at the Monterey County Jail in Salinas for a targeted operation. County officials told them to leave. When the agents refused, the sheriff locked the whole jail down instead of cooperating.
According to KSBW, the agents were stationed behind the jail on Tuesday. An agent on camera called it a targeted operation involving people at the jail.
A small crowd of Loudmouth Lupes showed up to yell at the agents to leave, and some of them were shouting profanities. The agents held their ground.
The sheriff's response was to suspend new bookings, stop inmate releases and close public visitation. The sheriff says the office was not notified and cited SB 54, California's sanctuary law, which limits how much local law enforcement can work with ICE.
In September, Monterey County supervisors adopted a policy that bars ICE from using county property as a staging area. It has exceptions for judicial warrants and criminal enforcement.
So a county would rather shut down its own jail than let federal immigration agents do their jobs on its grounds. Who does that protect?
Should counties that lock down jails to block ICE lose their federal funding?

Canada sold C-34 as a simple ban on under-16s using social media. Now Identity Minister Marc Miller says cabinet can extend it to Roblox and Discord through an Order in Council, with no vote in Parliament required. The bill was written to allow exactly this.
Meta wants the scope widened too. When the government and Meta agree on internet policy, users should check their wallets and their passports.
To keep kids off these platforms, every user has to prove their age. That means adults handing over government ID or a face scan to play a video game. Discord already leaked 70,000 ID images through a support vendor last October. Ottawaโs plan is to make the pile bigger.

Make HOAs illegal nationwide.
๐จ#BREAKING: Outrage is erupting in North Carolina after an HOA just DOUBLED monthly fees to **$2,500/MONTH** for homeowners who were paying just $158/month just five years ago...
...and the homeowners say the HOA board tried to charge homeowners $7,500/MONTH JUST IN HOA FEES!!!!!!!
On Monday night, the board backed off $7,500...
...but voted to DOUBLE fees to $2,500 a month instead.
Yes, $30,000 a year just to LIVE IN YOUR HOME THAT YOU BOUGHT.
Nearly SIXTEEN TIMES what families were paying a few years ago.
Families who bought what they thought were their forever homes are now being told to pay $30,000 a year in HOA fees, or GO INTO FORECLOSURE!!!!!!
The neighborhood is Magnolia Cove in Sherrills Ford, Catawba County NC.
Jill Menson and her husband bought their house believing it would be their LAST home and five years ago, their HOA fee was $158 a month.
This summer it shot up to more than $1,200.
Plus a $10,000 ASSESSMENT on top of that.
On Monday night, the HOA board voted to raise fees AGAIN, from $1,250 to $2,500 a month.
Thatโs nearly SIXTEEN TIMES what they paid five years ago.
And the meeting?
It was held over ZOOM.
Menson says theyโll be forced out with nowhere to go, because no one will buy a house carrying fees like that.
So they went to the state for help.
The North Carolina Attorney Generalโs office told Channel 9 there are NO STATUTES limiting how much an HOA can charge.
None.
As long as the board follows its own documents, it can charge whatever it wants.
In Jill Mensonโs words:
โNobody is helping us.โ
THIS IS ABSOLUTELY ABSURD AND SHOULD BE ILLEGAL!!!!!!!!!!

BREAKING: NYT reports that operatives with Democratic Alaska U.S. Senate candidate Mary Peltolaโs campaign were behind the effort to find & recruit a candidate named Dan Sullivan to run against incumbent GOP Senator Dan S. Sullivan in an effort to confuse voters and peel votes from him.
Specifically, NYT says they have reviewed text messages and documents that reveal in summer 2025, a Peltola staffer received instructions from campaign staffers to find as many people named Dan Sullivan in Alaska as possible.
The staffer complied, going through voter records, and compiled a list. The operation โinvolved secret trips to far-flung Alaskan communities and the appearance of a mysterious Midwestern operative, who traversed the state using a fake name and made his pitch to would-be candidates over beers at brew pubs.โ
Per NYT:
โThe plan worked. This spring, a retired teacher from a tiny fishing village along the Alaska Panhandle, reachable only by air and sea, announced his candidacy for Senate. His name was Dan J. Sullivan.โ
