I honestly expected the President’s declaration to seek re-election to generate more public conversation and excitement. In Nigeria, a presidential campaign kickoff is usually a major political moment that gets people talking. The unusually quiet atmosphere surrounding this one is an interesting political observation.

This message is for my Ibo brethren. As a Yoruba man, I am proud to say that I will choose a competent Ibo man over an incompetent fellow Yoruba man, and I can give you examples.
I will choose Soludo, perhaps Ben Kalu, Okezie Ikpeazu, Orji Uzor Kalu, and many other competent individuals from Iboland. But as a proud Yoruba man, I will never vote for politicians like GRV and others whom I consider incompetent.
So, when you see me campaigning for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, a Yoruba man, understand that it is not because he is Yoruba. It is because, in my assessment, he is the most competent candidate among the available options for now.
My loyalty is to competence, not tribe. My support is for good leadership, not ethnic sentiment. If an Ibo man is more competent, I will support him. If a Yoruba man is more competent, I will support him. Nigeria will never move forward if we continue to put tribal loyalty above competence and accountability.

It’s okay to admit you are ignorant. Fullo/Pullo refers to the Fulani. They are an ethnic group, not a non-state armed group. You obviously don’t know what a non-state actor means. They are as entitled to employment in any social setting as anyone else. This is akin to someone referring to you, an Igbo man, as an IPOB militant simply because of your ethnic origin.
The Fulani have been unfairly stereotyped by bigots like you, who lump every Fulani person together as an “armed non-state actor” or a criminal.
