📢 New in Prostate Cancer Guidelines – But Mind the Differences!
The 2025 EAU-EANM-ESTRO-ESUR-ISUP-SIOG guidelines bring a major update:
🔹 A new classification for intermediate-risk localized prostate cancer, moving away from the D’Amico system.
🔹 Subdivision into favourable and unfavourable intermediate risk – but with criteria that differ from the well-known NCCN scheme.
⚠️ Why it matters:
•Same terms, different definitions → possible confusion in clinical discussions.
•Some patients change risk category compared to NCCN (e.g., from unfavourable to favourable, or from intermediate to high risk).
💡 Takeaway: Until validated, always specify which risk classification you’re using to avoid misaligned treatment decisions. Consistency is key for personalised prostate cancer care.
