So, the last time Manchester United signed a player from Aston Villa, that player went on to win the Premier League with us.
That player was Ashley Young, who joined United in 2011 under Sir Alex Ferguson and became part of our 2012/13 title-winning squad.
Now, 15 years later, we have signed another player from Villa, this time bringing Youri Tielemans to Old Trafford.
The Belgian arrived with plenty of Premier League experience after making 134 appearances for Villa and helping them win the Europa League.
He has already made 13 appearances for us, providing three assists and showing the quality we expected from him.
Of course, history doesn't guarantee success, but it's an interesting coincidence that our previous signing from Villa ended up with a Premier League winners' medal.
Who knows? Maybe Tielemans will help us bring another Premier League title back to Old Trafford.

The last time Manchester United hosted Aston Villa at Old Trafford was in March 2026, and we came away with a convincing 3-1 victory.
Casemiro opened the scoring before Ross Barkley equalized for Villa, but Bruno Fernandes produced a beautiful through ball for Matheus Cunha to restore our lead before substitute Benjamin Šeško sealed the win.
However, things have taken a very different turn this season, with United sitting 18th on just seven points after nine league games, while Aston Villa occupy 12th place with 12 points.
We have managed just one Premier League victory so far and are desperately searching for another, despite ending our nine-game winless run with that dramatic 3-2 comeback against Roma in midweek.
Villa have also had their difficult moments, but they won six of their seven matches before their recent setbacks against Bournemouth, Fulham and Barcelona.
Interestingly, we have lost only twice in 31 Premier League home meetings with Aston Villa, winning 24 and drawing five, so our record at Old Trafford gives us something to build on.
As we welcome Villa to Old Trafford again today, we need to build on that comeback against Roma and show the same fighting spirit in the Premier League.
Three points are crucial, and we need to go into the international break with a win to lift the mood around the club. ❤️💪
