While putting the "illusion of explanatory gap" to test yesterday, I realized that I actually still can't tell a newbie how exactly ethereum manages state. So I spent this morning picking aprt @paradigm RETH codebase fill the gap. So here's my learnings:

How does MDBX update every block? The moment a consensus client (Lighthouse, prism) sends block via engine API, RETH executes the txs in the RAM (local node) track differences in Bundlestate, computes the Merkle Patricia Trie and write the diffs into MDBX.

So your node doesn't download state as is. Every node independently re-executes the same transactions in a block from scratch and arrive at the same byte-for-byte file. Ethereum is deterministic, so all node state re-execution is the same.

Everyone has a reason for not announcing, from Bank runs to loss of trust Hopefully sharing of information is currently occuring between fintechs so they can shore up their security There is safety in numbers, not isolation
A major Nigerian fintech lost a little over ₦3.5 billion to cybercriminals this week, people familiar with the attack tell me. Another lost ₦1 billion. My sources say neither attack was reported to Nigeria’s data protection regulator. 1/3

Just yesterday, I was in a Zara fitting room crying and dancing because of an email I had received. I was so overwhelmed with joy. Today, I received a full-tuition scholarship for a Certificate Programme at EIIS. Meaning that by February, I'll be in ROME!
