Guinness Nigeria's EPS over the last 3 years: up about 84% a year.
Its share price: up about 87% a year.
So did the stock get expensive, or did the business earn its way there?
That's the question behind the headline. Here's how to read it:
π Q3 2026 alone: net income β¦15.4B, EPS β¦7.03
π Nine months: profit β¦40.69B, EPS β¦18.58
π Interim dividend: β¦7.00 per share
π Price: β¦423
A quick check (our own rough math, not a forecast):
β¦423 Γ· β¦18.58 = about 23x nine-month earnings. Annualise those nine months and it's about 17x.
Neither number says "buy" or "avoid." They say "now go and check."
Ask yourself:
β When price and earnings rise together, is the stock cheaper or dearer than before?
β Is 17x fair for a business growing revenue about 16% a year (analyst forecast, not a promise)?
β Is one strong quarter a trend, or a good month in the brewery?
The lesson: never read a result in isolation. Quarter vs year. Earnings vs price. Profit vs cash.
FQVDM determines what you buy, while the crash framework determines when the risk/reward becomes attractive.
Which do you check first when results drop: earnings growth, valuation or dividend cover? Tell me below. π

**π Global Markets Briefing β What's Actually Moving Now**
**β οΈ The macro picture just got more serious:**
Escalating US-Iran conflict is now driving a **synchronized global bond selloff**. Brent crude pushed to ~$95 (three straight days of gains), 30-year US Treasury yields sit near a 19-year high (~5.28%), and markets are now pricing **over 50% odds of a rate hike this month across three major central banks β around 70% for the Fed alone.**
**Here's why this matters more than any single headline:** this isn't just America raising rates. New Zealand already hiked. The ECB is signaling a hike next week. The Bank of Japan is hinting at one too, with one board member even floating a larger-than-usual move. **When central banks tighten in sync, capital gets pulled back toward developed markets** β historically bad news for emerging-market currencies and equity flows, Nigeria included. This is the exact mechanism connecting "oil war in the Middle East" to "your naira and NGX portfolio."
**πΉπ· A cautionary tale worth studying: Turkey's hot-money dilemma**
Foreign investors have poured an estimated **$75 billion** into Turkish currency instruments, chasing a **37% benchmark interest rate** β one of the highest in the world. That yield looks tempting on paper. **But high-yield hot money is exactly that β hot. It flows in fast chasing rate, and flows out just as fast the moment risk sentiment shifts or the currency wobbles.** This is a real-time lesson for Nigerian investors: chasing headline yield without asking "how fast could this reverse?" is how carry trades turn into losses overnight.
**π€ The AI capex number that should make you pause:**
PwC now projects **AI data center spending could reach $32 trillion by 2050** β potentially $50 trillion in an accelerated scenario. For context, that dwarfs historical infrastructure buildouts like railways and electrification. Separately, Nvidia is reportedly in advanced talks to acquire AI startup Hugging Face for roughly **$13-14 billion.**
**Question worth asking before getting swept up in AI enthusiasm:** forecasts stretching to 2050 are inherently speculative β nobody has 25-year visibility into technology adoption curves. Treat the $32-50T figure as a directional signal of where capital is flowing *today* (real and verifiable β Nvidia's M&A activity, hyperscaler capex), not as a guaranteed outcome to bet a portfolio on.
**Verdict:** The real actionable thread today isn't any single stock β it's the **synchronized global tightening cycle**. If multiple major central banks hike together while oil-driven inflation persists, expect continued pressure on emerging-market currencies and portfolio flows over the coming weeks. That's the macro backdrop your NGX and dollar-asset decisions should be made against right now β not the daily noise.

AI Boom β Investing Lesson β Single X Post
Everyone's chasing AI stocks. Meta, Google, and BlackRock just quietly pointed at who actually wins.
Not AI engineers. Electricians. Welders. Pipefitters. HVAC techs.
$265 million just went into training skilled trade workers β because you can't run a single AI model without someone physically wiring the data center that powers it.
Meta: $115M for a 5-week bootcamp with guaranteed construction jobs.
Google: $50M to train 300,000+ trades workers.
BlackRock: $100M to build apprenticeship pipelines for 50,000 workers.
This is the oldest lesson in investing, wearing new clothes: during every gold rush, the real money is in picks and shovels β not the gold.
Nvidia just proved the same logic from the other side, sinking $3.5B into MediaTek β not to compete, but to make sure even "non-Nvidia" chips still depend on Nvidia's infrastructure. Moats aren't built on hype. They're built on making yourself impossible to route around.
The takeaway: before you buy the loudest AI stock in the headlines, ask β who's building the boring, unavoidable infrastructure underneath it? That's usually where the durable value sits.

Magnificent 7 in 2026: Stop treating them like one trade.
I keep hearing "just buy the Mag 7 and relax." Nah. That's not investing β that's copying a nickname a Bank of America analyst made up in 2023.
Truth is, these 7 stocks have split into three different stories this year. Here's the real verdict, fundamentals first:
π’ Microsoft β Revenue $90B, up 18%. EPS $4.81, up 32%. Stock's actually the worst performer of the group this year on AI-spend fears. That gap between the numbers and the price? That's your opportunity. Strong Buy.
π’ Google β Revenue $119.8B (+24%), EPS blew past estimates ($9.11 vs $3.04 expected). Cheapest stock in the whole Mag 7 on P/E. Everyone's chasing Nvidia headlines and sleeping on the one actually priced like a bargain. Strong Buy.
π’ Nvidia β Revenue up 106%. Data center revenue up 117%. 75% gross margins. Just quadrupled its dividend. Yes it "looks" expensive β but growth-adjusted, it's the cheapest stock in the group. Strong Buy.
π‘ Amazon β Headline EPS of $5.75 is inflated by a one-off $53B gain from their Anthropic stake. Ignore that. The real story is AWS growing 37%, fastest in 18 quarters. Buy the business, not the accounting noise.
π‘ Meta β Revenue up 28%, but EPS actually missed and margins got squeezed by legal costs and layoffs. Ad business itself still healthy. Not broken, just needs 1-2 quarters to prove it. Hold.
π‘ Apple β Great quarter (EPS up 29%), but the stock already ran up 28% this year pricing in the good news. Great company, no longer a great entry point. Hold, wait for a dip.
π΄ Tesla β Record deliveries, but EPS missed by 38%, margins collapsed to 1.4%, and it trades near 340x earnings β the priciest stock in the group by miles. Volume up, profit down, price sky-high. That's not a stock, that's a risk. Sell / avoid at current levels.
The lesson: 3 strong buys, 2 needing patience, 1 fully priced, 1 genuinely risky. Anyone selling you "all 7 are a buy" is selling hype, not analysis.
Beyond the Mag 7, names worth putting through your own fundamentals check: Cigna (beat earnings, raised guidance), Abbott (trading below sector average), Uber and United Airlines (both Strong Buy rated and cheap vs peers). Run each through a real framework before you touch your money β that's literally what our UZEE Stock Analysis Template is built for.
Which of the 7 would you actually buy today? Tell me why. π

𧡠"If care is not taken, Seplat will hit β¦20k."
Everyone's saying it. Nobody's checking the math.
Let's look before we leap. π
1/ Where SEPLAT actually is right now:
~β¦11,400/share. Up ~96% YTD. Market cap ~β¦6.82T. That's already the biggest rally on the NGX this year.
2/ Why it rallied β and it's not hype:
β’ Tony Elumelu's Heirs Energies bought a 20% stake for ~$500M (Dec 2025) β now the largest shareholder
β’ FY2025 revenue up 144% to $2.73B, profit before tax up 87% to $497.8M
β’ Nigeria just got upgraded to FTSE Frontier Market status (Sept 2026) β foreign money is flowing into names like this
That's a fundamentals story. Real.
3/ Now the math nobody's doing:
β¦20k from β¦11,400 is another ~75% move. In one of the biggest rallies NGX has ever seen β from a stock that's already up 96% this year.
That's not impossible. But it's not "if care is not taken" either. It requires the good news to keep compounding.
4/ The number that should make you pause:
SEPLAT's trailing P/E is sitting around 135x.
Oil & gas producers β Seplat included, historically β trade in single or low-double digits. 135x means either:
β the market is pricing in years of future growth today, or
β the earnings figure is temporarily distorted (forex translation, PIA conversion costs)
Either way: that's a risk flag, not a footnote. A stretched multiple sitting near a 52-week high is exactly where a slowdown in foreign inflows or a dip in oil price hurts most.
5/ The verdict:
Seplat's rally has real legs β Elumelu's stake, earnings growth, frontier market inflows. That's fact.
β¦20k is possible, not inevitable. That's the part the hype leaves out.
Don't buy a price target. Buy (or hold) the fundamentals behind it β production growth, dividend discipline, valuation relative to earnings quality.
Fundamentals First. Always. We look before we leap.

Build Wealth with Clarity. Not Guesswork.
Good morning, Investor.
There is plenty happening across Nigerian and global markets today.
But smart investing isn't about knowing every headline.
It's about understanding what the headline could mean for your money.
π³π¬ WHAT'S MOVING IN NIGERIA?
π¦ Prestige Assurance strengthens its capital base
Prestige Assurance has completed its recapitalisation programme in compliance with NAICOM requirements.
Why investors should care:
More capital can strengthen an insurer's ability to underwrite risks and pursue growth.
But don't stop at the headline.
Look at earnings, underwriting performance, investment income, capital adequacy and valuation.
β οΈ Stanbic IBTC flags possible H1 reporting delay
Stanbic IBTC Holdings has notified the NGX of a potential delay in filing its H1 2026 audited financial statements.
The lesson:
Timely financial reporting matters.
Until the financial statements arrive, investors should avoid filling the information gap with assumptions.
Wait for the numbers.
π’οΈ Nigeria targets up to $50bn in deep offshore investment
The Federal Government has approved a new framework aimed at unlocking major deep offshore oil and gas investments.
Potential implications extend across:
Oil production β oil services β government revenue β foreign investment β the broader economy.
But remember:
Announcements create expectations. Execution creates economic value.
π° T-bills attract stronger demand
Treasury bill yields have eased ahead of the CBN's planned β¦700bn auction.
For investors, this creates an important question:
How attractive are short-term fixed-income returns compared with the risk and potential upside of equities?
That decision should consider yield, inflation, liquidity, risk and investment horizon.
π GLOBAL MARKET WATCH
Oil and gold are rising amid geopolitical tensions, while markets await fresh U.S. inflation data.
The dollar is also receiving attention as investors look for clues about the Federal Reserve's next moves.
Why does this matter to a Nigerian investor?
Because U.S. interest rates, the dollar, oil prices and global capital flows can eventually affect emerging marketsβincluding Nigeria.
π§ THE UZEE INVESTOR'S LESSON
Here's what we want you to remember today:
Don't just ask, βWhat happened?β
Ask:
π Who benefits?
π Who is under pressure?
π° What happens to earnings?
π Is the stock fairly valued?
β οΈ What could invalidate the investment thesis?
That's how you move from market news to investment intelligence.
And that's exactly why we created UZEE Stocks Update.
We don't want you to become someone who simply knows stock tickers.
We want you to understand the businesses behind them.
π± Fundamentals First. Always.
We look before we leap.
π WANT TO BECOME A SMARTER INVESTOR?
If you're investing in the NGX or U.S. stock market, don't make decisions based on hype, rumours or WhatsApp noise.

β’ Unusual volume: Could signal increased investor interest, but volume alone doesn't confirm whether a stock is a good buy.

**5 Mistakes New Nigerian Investors Make Before Buying Their First Stock**
Most people don't lose money in the stock market because the market is rigged. They lose because nobody taught them the basics before they hit "buy."
Here's what trips up almost every first-time investor:
**1. Buying because "everyone is talking about it"**
Hearing a stock name on WhatsApp or Twitter isn't research. If you can't explain what the company does, how it makes money, and why it's priced the way it is β you're gambling, not investing.
**2. Skipping the company's financials entirely**
Before you buy, ask: Is this company profitable? Is revenue growing? Does it have manageable debt? Most new investors buy the story and never check the numbers behind it.
**3. Putting all their money into one stock**
One bad earnings report, one bad news cycle, and your entire portfolio takes the hit. Spreading risk across a few solid companies protects you from a single mistake wiping you out.
**4. Chasing a stock after it's already pumped 50-100%**
By the time a stock is trending because "it's up big," a lot of the easy gain is already gone. Buying at the peak of hype is how new investors buy high and sell low in panic.
**5. Having no exit plan before buying**
If you don't know why you're buying, you won't know when to sell. Are you investing for dividends? Long-term growth? A specific price target? Decide before you buy, not after you're already down.
Here's the truth: the market doesn't punish beginners. It punishes people who never took the time to understand what they were doing before they did it.
That's exactly why we wrote **The Nigerian Investor's Blueprint** β a practical, no-hype guide to help you avoid these mistakes and start investing with clarity instead of guesswork.

That's the macro backdrop your NGX and dollar-asset decisions should be made against right now β not the daily noise.

π€ AI ISNβT JUST ANSWERING QUESTIONS ANYMORE. ITβS STARTING TO DO THE WORK. ARE YOU READY?
While many people are still debating whether AI is a threat or an opportunity, something more important is happening.
AI agents are moving into browsers, workplaces, research laboratories and creative workflows.
Here are 5 developments worth paying attention to. π§΅π
1οΈβ£ ChatGPT is moving closer to your everyday workflow.
AI assistants are evolving beyond conversations. Browser-based tools can help users compare information across tabs, organize research and perform tasks on websites.
The opportunity? Less time spent on repetitive work.
The risk? Giving an AI system too much access without checking what it does.
Lesson: Automate the work, but keep control of important decisions.
2οΈβ£ AI agents are changing how companies operate.
Anthropic's internal research, as described in the newsletter, found that by August, employees' Claude agent sessions were accumulating six hours of work for every hour of work by the person running them.
That sounds impressive, but agent-hours are not the same as productive human hours.
The real questions are whether the work is accurate, whether it saves money and whether customers receive better results.
3οΈβ£ AI is becoming a research partner.
Google Research demonstrated AI agents refining DNA aptamer designs using laboratory feedback.
When an early result looked promising but turned out to be misleading, the system revised its approach.
That's an important lesson: useful AI must do more than produce answers. It must be tested against reality and corrected when it fails.
Human oversight remains essential.
4οΈβ£ AI could reshape entry-level jobs.
The Anthropic research also reported a decline in early-career technical hires as a share of its technical hiring.
That does not prove AI caused the change, and one company's experience cannot predict the entire labour market.
Nevertheless, it raises an important question: if AI handles more routine tasks, how will beginners gain the experience needed to become experts?
My view: learn to use AI, but also develop judgment, communication, problem-solving and domain expertise.
5οΈβ£ AI creates investment opportunitiesβbut not every AI company will win.
From AI infrastructure to creative software and scientific research, the potential applications are expanding.
But investors must separate technological progress from financial performance.
Before investing in an AI-related company, examine its revenue growth, free cash flow, competitive advantage, capital requirements and valuation.
A revolutionary product does not automatically make its stock a bargain.
π³π¬ WHAT THIS MEANS FOR NIGERIAN BUSINESSES AND INVESTORS
You don't need to build an AI model to benefit from this shift.
You can use AI to:
- Research markets and competitors.
- Improve customer service and business processes.
- Create educational content and marketing materials.
- Analyse information faster while verifying important facts.
- Develop valuable skills that complement automation.
But don't confuse access to AI with expertise. The advantage belongs to people who can ask better questions, verify outputs and turn information into sound decisions.
The bigger opportunity isn't simply using AI. It's learning how to use it responsibly to create measurable value.
π¬ Let's discuss: If AI could automate 30% of your daily work tomorrow, would you use the extra time to learn a new skill, grow your business or increase your income?
