#OakIncident: Ventura County firefighters, along with Fillmore firefighters, responded to a structure fire in the 1500 block of Oak Avenue, northwest of the City of Fillmore. The structure, located within an avocado orchard, was heavily involved when firefighters arrived and sustained significant damage. Due to the rural location, a water tender was utilized to support firefighting operations. The 911 call was received at 9:16 a.m., and firefighters knocked down the fire at 9:44 a.m. No injuries were reported. @CountyVentura @VENTURASHERIFF @fillmorefire

Today, the @VCFD, the @VCHCA , joined by @OxnardFire and @cityofventura Fire Dept., brought a little Halloween magic to some of our community’s bravest children at Ventura County Medical Center. Dressed as superheroes, members of Urban Search and Rescue Task Force 7 (US&R TF-7) rappelled down to the pediatric intensive care unit’s outdoor play area, sharing smiles, gentle fist bumps, and moments of joy with young patients and their families. 🎃👩‍🚒🚒♥️

Tropical moisture returns this week, bringing showers & tstms to the area. Here's what we're thinking for timing & probabilities. Initially, threats will be dry lightning, transitioning to a flooding/debris flow risk Thurs as moisture increases. Strong winds are also possible.

VCFD placed a new rescue ambulance into service today at Fire Station 42 in Moorpark, enhancing the city’s emergency medical response and adding capacity during high-demand incidents. The new unit, designated Rescue Ambulance 42 (RA42), increases the number of medical transport resources available in the region and brings two additional firefighter-paramedics to the city each day. These added personnel will help deliver faster, more flexible service to residents during life-threatening emergencies. RA42 is fully equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment, including whole blood for emergency transfusions, the LUCAS mechanical CPR device, and advanced Stryker gurneys—tools that support paramedics in delivering critical, pre-hospital care in the field. “Every second counts during a medical emergency,” said Ventura County Fire Chief Dustin Gardner. “This new rescue ambulance in Moorpark gives our firefighter-paramedics another tool to quickly begin advanced care and transport patients to the hospital without delay—especially during times of high system demand.” @CountyVentura @CityofMoorpark

VCFD celebrated the opening of new Fire Station 34 in Thousand Oaks with a ribbon cutting ceremony today. New Station 34 features two pull-through engine bays, seven dorms, office and conference room facilities, and more than triples the size of the previous station. Construction in the 1.9 acre facility began in April, 2022, and Medic Engine 34 began operating from the station on March 15th of this year. Thank you to Supervisor Jeff Gorell, Supervisor Vianey Lopez, Chairperson Janice Parvin, Thousand Oaks Mayor David Newman, Thousand Oaks Council Member Bob Engler, and County CEO Dr. Sevette Johnson for your support in bringing this project to completion, and joining us to celebrate today. VCFD also welcomed retired firefighters including many who had served at Fire Station 34. VCFD is proud to continue developing facilities and services that meet the needs of the communities we serve. #VCFD #venturacountyfire #firestation #firefighter #thousandoaks

Firefighters have officially moved into VCFD’s brand-new Fire Station 34, located at Avenida de los Arboles and Mountclef Blvd. in Thousand Oaks. This state-of-the-art facility enhances our ability to serve the community with modern amenities and room for future growth. Currently, Station 34 is home to Medic Engine 34, staffed by a dedicated three-firefighter crew. The facility is also designed to support an additional engine company as service needs grow in Thousand Oaks. We look forward to celebrating this milestone with the community at an official grand opening ceremony soon. #VCFD #venturacountyfire #venturacounty #firestation #thousandoaks

With deep sorrow, the Ventura County Fire Department announces the line of duty death of Engineer Thomas “Tommy” James Daniel Minadeo at the age of 32. Engineer Minadeo dedicated his life to serving and protecting the community with unwavering commitment, professionalism, and heart. His bravery, dedication, and kindness left an indelible mark on those he worked alongside and the countless lives he touched. Minadeo joined the Ventura County Fire Department as a fire control worker in 2015. In 2017, he was hired as a firefighter, graduating from Academy 54. He was assigned to Truck 54 in Camarillo, Station 26 in Santa Paula, Station 31 in Thousand Oaks, Station 51 in El Rio, Station 55 in Camarillo and Station 53 in Port Hueneme. Tommy promoted to engineer in 2022 and served his final assignment at Station 45 in Simi Valley. Minadeo was diagnosed with job-related cancer last October and had been undergoing treatment. “Tommy was part of our fire family for nearly 10 years, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with us in response to our community’s public safety needs,” Fire Chief Dustin Gardner said. “We now stand with Tommy’s family in grieving his passing and supporting each other.”

Tonight, Ventura County Fire Chief Dustin Gardner will join me as my guest at the Joint Session of Congress. Chief Gardner has shown unwavering dedication in protecting Ventura County during some of the most devastating wildfires and emergencies we’ve faced. His leadership has been vital not only in Ventura County, but also in coordinating firefighting efforts across California. Protecting our communities from wildfires and natural disasters must remain a national priority. Federal support for our firefighters and emergency responders is essential — and disaster assistance should never be politicized. When disaster strikes, communities deserve timely, effective federal support, no matter what. I’m honored to welcome Chief Gardner and to recognize the brave firefighters and first responders across the nation who risk their lives every day to protect our communities.
