इजिप्ट के यानी मिश्र के इतिहास में मोहम्मद अली पाशा का नाम जरूर आता है
दरअसल इजिप्ट कभी ऑटोमन साम्राज्य का स्वशासी राज्य था जिसे फ्रांस के राजा नेपोलियन बोनापार्ट ने हमला करके ऑटोमन साम्राज्य यानी तुर्की के खलीफा से छीन लिया और फ्रांसीसी शासन के अधीन कर दिया
उसके बाद तुर्की के खलीफा ने अल्बेनिया और तुर्क सेना को मोहम्मद अली पाशा नामक सैन्य कमांडर के नेतृत्व में इजिप्ट यानी मिश्र को नेपोलियन बोनापार्ट के कब्जे से आजाद करने के लिए भेजा मोहम्मद अली पाशा और नेपोलियन बोनापार्ट की सेना में खूब लड़ाई हुई
मोहम्मद अली पाशा जीत गया और वह इजिप्ट का शासक बना
लेकिन इजिप्ट पर 800 सालों तक मामेंलुक्स का राज था मामेलुक यानी मूल रूप से इजिप्ट के निवासी यानी कि इजिप्ट के मूलनिवासी
यह लोग काफी लड़ाकू होते थे और यह भाड़े पर लड़ाई भी करते थे मामेलुक्स ने मोहम्मद अली पाशा पर हमला किया धीरे-धीरे मोहम्मद अली पाशा का राज्य सिकुड़ता गया फिर अंत में मोहम्मद अली पाशा को लगा कि वह मामेलुक यानी इजिप्ट के मूल निवासियों के साथ जीत नहीं सकता क्योंकि यह लो काफी बहादुर थे तब उसने 2000 मामेलुक सैन्य कमांडर को शांतिवार्ता हेतु एक समारोह में खाने पर इनवाइट किया
यह समारोह 1 मार्च 1811 को रखा गया था

बेचारे भोले भाले मामेलुक सैन्यकर्मियों ने समझा कि मोहम्मद अली पाशा तो शांति वार्ता के लिए और खाने पर इनवाइट कर रहा है इसलिए वह बगैर हथियार के आए और जैसे ही वह खाना खाने के लिए बैठे थे मोहम्मद अली पाशा के सैनिकों ने मोहम्मद अली पाशा के आदेश पर उन्हें खाना खाते हुए ही घेर कर मार डाला
उसके बाद वह एलेग्जेंडरिया पर कब्जा कर लिया और बचे कुचे मामेलुक का नरसंहार कर दिया
सबसे आश्चर्य बात यह कि आज इसके नाम इजिप्ट की राजधानी काहिरा में एक बहुत बड़ी मस्जिद है जिसे मोहम्मद अली मस्जिद कहते हैं
लेकिन गुरु गोविंद सिंह ने जो इनके बारे में कहा था वह एकदम सच है
