Wonderful news!!!
Pope Leo XIV’s doctors have confirmed that the tumor removed on October 13 was a lung adenocarcinoma and that the disease was localized.
Dr. Luigi Carbone and Professor Stefano Margaritora said on Wednesday evening that a subsequent oncological assessment has confirmed that “no further treatment is necessary.”
I'll be on @DCNewsNow at 8:12 this morning to talk about @Pontifex's early discharge from the hospital yesterday.
Wonderful news!!!
Pope Leo XIV was discharged from Rome’s Gemelli Hospital and returned to the papal apartments in Vatican City State on Saturday afternoon.
The announcement that Pope Leo would be released from hospital was made on Saturday morning.
A separate statement from the Holy See Press Office announced that Pope Leo will lead the noonday Angelus prayer on Sunday from the window of the Apostolic Palace.
I was so happy to see images of Pope Leo celebrating Mass within the hospital yesterday. I spoke with KTVU 2 on Friday about his diagnosis, and am heartened by the news that he was discharged today.

Wonderful news! @KDaniels8 is an amazing colleague of mine at @Georgetown and I am so excited to see how she'll contribute to the @USCCB Task Force on AI
Honored to serve as a consultant to the @USCCB Task Force on AI, helping respond to Pope Leo's call to work for a "social, economic and political order" that allows "everyone -- particularly the weakest -- to live a truly dignified life, without leaving anyone behind" (MH 77)

Pope Leo XIV celebrated Mass at noon on Friday in the room set up on the 10th floor of Gemelli Hospital, according to the Holy See Press Office.
Several members of Gemelli's medical and nursing staff attended the Mass, along with members of the Vatican City State Gendarmerie Corps.
"In his homily, the Pope thanked all the staff—doctors, nurses, and orderlies—for the work they do every day caring for patients in their frailty, and especially for what they have done and continue to do for him," read the statement.

Today, Georgetown joins the global Catholic community in prayer for Pope Leo XIV following his cancer diagnosis. Our thoughts are with him as he navigates his recovery. May God give him peace, strength and healing in the days ahead.
With the news of Pope Leo's surgery and diagnosis of lung cancer, I am praying for him during his recovery. I spoke with for @DCNewsNow about this, as well as how his own words about caring for vulnerable communities ought to be heeded.

In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgent to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity.
Art historians estimate that over 20,000 images of St. Francis of Assisi were created within a century of his death. An examination of some of the most notable works will help us better appreciate his legacy 800 years after his death.
