@Zoetis, we want answers. I’m Janet, a member of the VSRF team and foster mom to a little kitten named Kiko. On Wednesday, he went to the veterinarian for standard deworming and was administered Revolution. Within 24 hours, I witnessed a devastating neurological decline: walking in circles, apparent sudden blindness, difficulty using his back legs, and back-to-back grand mal seizures that are worsening. I am posting videos of his seizures in the comments because they are difficult to watch. Baby Kiko is between seven to eight weeks old. Before treatment, he was eating enthusiastically, gaining weight, chatting away, and climbing out of his enclosure. He had roundworms and needed deworming. Revolution’s own labeling lists tremors, loss of coordination, and seizures among reported adverse events in cats. It also warns against use in sick, debilitated, or underweight animals. According to SafeVetMeds analysis of FDA adverse-event data, Revolution reports approximately 60,500 adverse events and 2,300 reported fatalities, with roughly half of those fatalities appearing in reports where Revolution was the only drug listed. @Zoetis and @FDA, what have your investigations into these reports found, and what are you doing to protect our pets? How many more animals must suffer before these safety concerns receive meaningful action? How are you ensuring veterinarians understand when these medications should—and should not—be administered, particularly to young, vulnerable animals? I am calling on @Zoetis to investigate what happened and provide meaningful assistance with Kiko's care. And I am calling on the @FDA to seriously investigate this safety concern. Kiko's life matters. I understand there is no antidote for selamectin toxicity. If anyone has veterinary toxicology expertise or firsthand experience caring for an animal with similar neurological symptoms, please reach out urgently. Pet owners deserve informed consent. Veterinarians need clear safety information, transparency, and support when serious adverse events occur. Our animals deserve protection. And families deserve answers. Kiko cannot speak for himself. But I can speak for him—and for all the other animals whose families have reported similarly devastating experiences. We DEMAND answers.
