I need my Ferals to really read and take in this post. As someone who has had years of extensive Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy- it sounds dumb, but this really does work, for real. I have the tools to reframe anything bad my brain is trying to scream at me. It's not that I'm a positive person or am bullshitting myself into feeling happy. I get really depressed, over MANY things. I just have to use these tools all the time to reframe things, question my logic, center myself in reality and control my emotions. No, your steamer doesn't hate you. No, that friend isn't ignoring you. No, you aren't a failure. No, you aren't broken or worthless. Learning to self soothe and talk your self sabotaging brain out of seeing the worst in everything, is one of the most powerful tools I ever got from Therapy. I only allow myself a few minutes of pain, of sadness, of feeling alone...then I have to help myself, by seeing what I do have, what is real, what does matter and not letting myself go down a dark road I nearly didn't escape from before. I can promise you, your self hatred is far worse than anything anyone ever thinks of you, you are the meanest person to yourself. Nobody see's you like that or would hate you on that level. Ain't nobody got time for that. 😅
