Public sector workers are set to receive a 9% increase in total remuneration in 2027, followed by a 10% across-the-board pay rise in 2028, following an agreement between the government and Organised Labour. Organised Labour Secretary-General Joshua Ansah says the 2027 adjustment will include an 8% base pay increase and a 1% allocation for conditions of service.

Don’t be surprised by DStv reducing its prices. They experienced a decline of over 11% in subscribers in Ghana in the 2025 financial year, so they have a reason to reduce prices themselves, just as MTN reduced its broadband prices when Starlink started gaining users. If Sam George genuinely wants to make services more affordable, he should focus on reducing MTN data prices, which millions of Ghanaians pay for daily.

Parliament’s budget has increased by GH¢597.52 million since you took office, even though the President has reduced the number of appointees. Means politicians under your administration are doing excessive spending. Cut these expenses and bring the budget back to its 2023 level. Use the over GH¢800 million in savings to help fund a 1% salary increase for public servants like Police, teachers, nurses and others. This could earn you greater support from many Ghanaians.

They are worried about increasing salaries for public servants like teachers, nurses, and other government workers, yet Parliament’s 2026 budget alone is GH¢1.620 billion, covering MPs, their allowances, parliamentary staff, and operations. That is twice the amount they are worried about. Even if Parliament reduced its spending by half, the savings could help fund a salary increase for government workers across Ghana.
