Bela Bajaria, Pamela Abdy, and Cindy Holland are the latest to exit as mergers and layoffs reshape studios in Hollywood, leaving few women with the power to greenlight a movie. "It’s like a brutal game of musical chairs,” says 'Hunger Games' producer Nina Jacobson, who was previously president of the Buena Vista Motion Pictures Group. “There have always been more men at the very top than women and you feel that more than ever as the chairs start being taken away." vanityfair.visitlink.me/RBEl…

“When you have an abortion,” writes Franklyn, “the take-home packet gives you explicit instructions on what to do if you bleed through two pads per hour. But nowhere does it include guidance on the emotional clusterf–k that’s to come” vanityfair.com/story/sofia-f…

“In late spring 2020, a source I knew to be reliable called me with a story,” writes Matthew Cole. “The Dutch government had hacked into Jared Kushner’s phone and monitored him as he accessed a Dubai-based bank account. What was odd, the source said, was that the money in the account—hundreds of millions of dollars—had come from a bank in Azerbaijan. Most importantly, Kushner appeared to have transferred significant amounts of money from the Dubai account to other individuals, including a warlord, a mercenary and a one-time hit man. The story sounded preposterous, I told my source. And yet. Six months later, I found myself speaking with someone else about the UAE government and their use of mercenaries in conflicts around the Middle East and Africa when I asked, on a whim, whether they knew anything about Kushner and bank transfers from a UAE account. My acquaintance grew quiet. Then they replied, ‘Yes.’” Kushner’s lawyer denied the bank account existed. Harry Styles is two thirds of the way through his 30-night residency at Madison Square Garden. His stamina is impressive, but VF’s José Criales-Unzueta is more in awe of the number of looks that his stylist Harry Lambert has put together for the tour, which started in May and will continue through August 2027. On Saturday, Styles wore a look by Conner Ives, who, like Li, has become an industry darling. “Conner Ives is one of my favorite brands,” Lambert said, adding that the look is one of his favorites that Styles has worn. Victoria’s Secret had said in a statement that on September 6, Piergiorgio Del Moro, who cast the show, had informed model Romee Strijd’s agency, IMG, that she was not cast. But Strijd, it turns out, did not attend the VS casting until September 10. Whether this is a simple mix up regarding dates or a more complicated issue remains a mystery. “I had been on option since early summer,” Strijd said in a statement. “If the decision was that I should no longer be considered, I would appreciate an explanation of what happened and why I still attended.” Strijd understands not being booked for a job, she said, that’s not her issue. “If there is still uncertainty, say that honestly,” Strijd said. “Keeping someone hopeful because a decision might change isn’t fair when they’re making plans and putting their time and energy into something. That has always been my point.” Read more from José Criales-Unzueta's weekly column Fit Check: vanityfair.visitlink.me/NXFN…

A talented race car driver, martial arts enthusiast, pilot, and notorious ladies’ man, Steve McQueen has become a cultural icon, the definitive king of cool. “His special, unique talent was his ability to balance his inner heat (his emotional rage, his distrust of older authority figures, and his defiance of them) and his cautious, careful, catlike wariness that so beautifully translated to the screen as the ultimate in cool,” Marc Eliot writes in 2011’s gossipy 'Steve McQueen: A Biography' vanityfair.visitlink.me/gecz…

War exponentially scaled Xtend CEO Aviv Shapira’s business, right as American investors were falling back in love with the military. In September, American Ventures, in which Eric Trump is an investor, helped take the company public in a reverse merger, which saw Xtend fold into a small construction company that was already public. Xtend is part of a greater wave of the Trump sons investing in defense tech: The two brothers’ investments have produced at least $3.2 billion in government business, according to a Washington Post analysis vanityfair.visitlink.me/ehx4…
