When Muslims exercise their democratic rights through peaceful protest & voting they are described as extremist mobs. When racists attack mosques, homes & businesses they are described as people with legitimate grievances. The racist double standard is so glaringly obvious.

There are plenty of white working-class people who despise everything these racists stand for and who care deeply about improving their own communities. They don't go around attacking places of worship and abusing Muslim women on the street.

And, to be clear, I believe the struggles of people in former pit communities and deprived seaside towns are often similar to those of working-class Black and Asian people in diverse communities. We have to address material need but we can never appease these violent racists.
