I’m happy to finally report the data from the main project of my phd. Over 8 conditions of 32 8mo-old infants, we tested the hypothesis that human cognition starts altercentric instead of egocentric (Southgate, 2013; 2020)

Our direct test of infant altercentrism hypothesis is published now, open access, in Proceedings B Bio: royalsocietypublishing.org/d…
We explained what we did in this thread, and the new data collected since did not change our partial results: teapawt.net/VelisarM/status/153997…

This is somehow in line with the altercentrism hypothesis (far from a result we predicted though): tracking the agent’s attention, rather than just gazing at the object, drives infants’ expectations.

#BCCCD22 used to be the nicest irl conference, but it's also the easiest to navigate online. Here's a video describing our latest research: youtu.be/jtsQUQ-dGok
With @SketchySk , @_emy & @vhsouthgate; booth a-0205. I'll be live today from 20:30 CET
