We’re sharing a solution to the Navier-Stokes Millennium Prize Problem, one of the deepest problems at the frontier of mathematics.
The proof was produced by a group of agents, using an OpenAI next-generation model significantly more capable than GPT-6 Astra.
The problem concerns whether the description of smooth three-dimensional fluid motion modeled by the Navier-Stokes equations can break down. It has remained unresolved for roughly 90 years.

And lastly, thank you to all Exa users and friends who've been with us these past 5 years.
We will not stop until the world’s information is fully organized for you, and for every intelligence across the world 🫡
The protocol is dear to me; it's so elegant, fast, easy.
I maintain that one day Simplex Consensus will be the byzantine protocol of choice everywhere (industry, in distributed systems classes).

Unlike other “off-the-shelf” consensus implementations, consensus::simplex is refreshingly minimal.
It delivers simple agreement over opaque “blobs”. Functions that have historically motivated developers to create forks, like block broadcast, are abstracted as interfaces:

Today, we are excited to share our biggest release yet: consensus::simplex (our first of many upcoming consensus dialects).
consensus::simplex provides BFT agreement via a new, optimistically responsive construction inspired by Simplex Consensus:

For the latest Systems Seminar, @Vervious joins us to present Simplex Consensus.
Simplex has one goal: to be the simplest consensus protocol to prove, implement, and learn. Check it out here:

Discover new consensus protocols with our faculty Prof. Rafael Pass and PhD student Benjamin Chan @Vervious from Cornell. Don't miss out their latest cutting-edge research in #blockchain #consensus!
We have a new consensus protocol for you, called "Simplex Consensus". It's supposed to be fast and easier to understand than everything else out there. Joint work with Rafael Pass. Check it out at eprint.iacr.org/2023/463! 1/3

It builds on a ton of other protocols (Casper FFG, Hotstuff, Algorand, Streamlet, etc.). I think we're approaching the final evolution of consensus. 2/3
You can also find a summarized version at simplex.blog. Feedback and comments appreciated! 3/3

I know this is top secret information that you don’t normally share, but try opening your heart and tell me which coffee shops are perfect for reading and writing papers (around the world). I will bookmark this thread forever.
I’ll start: Here’s an option for when in Tel Aviv👇
