I feel like between this and the Mario/Peach debacle, this is some attempt to overcorrect the 90's obsession with unnecessary romantic subplots. These are full series, not one-time games, put some romance in there, kids need to know what it means to be in love.
SEGA removes Amy Rose's romantic feelings for Sonic from her Japanese character profile!
The official Japanese #Sonic Channel has updated Amy Rose's biography, removing all explicit references to her longtime crush on Sonic.
Her previous profile described her as a girl in love with Sonic who constantly chased him and even called herself his girlfriend, a character trait associated with Amy since her debut in 1993.
The new description takes a different approach, presenting her as an energetic, positive and courageous hedgehog who leads her friends and never backs down when they're in danger. It also highlights her Piko Piko Hammer and dedication to self-improvement.
Interestingly, Sonic is no longer mentioned anywhere in her main character description. The change has sparked discussion among fans, especially given how closely Amy's feelings for Sonic have been associated with her character for decades.
SEGA has not provided an official explanation for the rewrite.

Animation needs to be present in at least 75% of the film for it to be nominated. I remember Marcell the Shell With Shoes On had a rough time getting its nomination, so I'm legit curious if this film passes that mark, because there's a lot of live action in it.

Interesting to see Japan also has issues with the anime. Like, it's fun and all if you've already read the series, but between the slow pacing (especially in season 1) and more childish presentation, it's not really the right way to introduce people to the series.

Also I am so glad we finally have another kids film with some grit to it. It's so funny looking back at people going nuts at Last Wish for showing blood or a dark joke, meanwhile people in this film get skewered and butchered left and right, it's fucking incredible.
