Want to know what a sports hero looks like?
Well, on August 8, 1982, a line-drive foul ball hit a four-year-old boy in the head at Fenway leaving him in critical condition.
Jim Rice realized that it would take EMTs too long to arrive, so he sprang into action. He jumped up from the dugout and into the stands, cutting through the crowd and scooping up the boy.
He brought him to the dugout and laid the boy gently on the floor, where the Red Sox medical team began to treat him.
When the boy arrived at the hospital 30 minutes later, doctors said, without a doubt, that Jim's prompt actions saved the boy's life.
Jim returned and finished the game in a blood-stained uniform.
(The stain, was a symbol of courageousness)
The next day, he visited the boy in the hospital and discovered that the family had modest means. He took it upon himself to stop by the business office and personally directed that the bill and all additional expenses be sent to him.
This is what a sports hero looks like!

Spring is most certainly on the way in Central Park! Crocuses, daffodils, and cherry and apple trees are all blossoming. And this lovely Northern Cardinal seemed to appreciate it all too!🧡🧡🧡#birdcpp #birdtwitter

On this day one year ago we saw over 8" of snow fall in Central Park. I went out early and came upon this truly magnificent Great Blue Heron standing in the Loch, motionless as the snow fell on and around him. Unforgettable.
