Okay, so I’ve just finished reading the whole amendment, and it further reinforces my view that the Assemblée Nationale is basically a zoo at this point.
First: Not all “données numériques” (digital data) are the same. For example, do we count IP headers and metadata? If a file is compressed during transmission, which size is taxed? Do we tax automatically downloaded software updates?
Second: The article refers to traffic being “measured by the internet provider,” but that’s a weak argument.
An ISP can count IP packets without inspecting their content, but when thousands of developers distribute software through the same hosting platform or CDN (like Github), how does it distinguish the infra provider from the actual content provider, and decide which one pays the tax?

You’re talking nonsense; the tax is capped, and in your case, it wouldn’t apply at all. Read the text of the amendment instead of just jumping into the fray along with the rest of the pack.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know

You have no idea what you are talking about.
What you said about Facebook and Insta and other social networks are not targeted because they are free, means you don’t understand the basics of economy. You don’t understand the difference between Revenue and Profit. Nor what is a non-profit.
You don’t understand anything about digital economy and digital business models.
You don’t understand anything about security and updates.
You should be ashamed of yourself.

Vous qui avez déposé cet amendement, vous êtes vraiment conscients des conséquences ?
@LaurentLhardit @EstelleMercier2 @cpiresbeaune @MickaelBouloux @laurentbaumel @JacquesOberti @SophiePantel48 @ChrisBapt @chproenca @borisvallaud @allemand_jose @JAviragnet @fbarusseau
So, the French socialists, and Parliament members just voted a tax, that they don’t understand, which would cost VideoLAN more than 1 million euro per year.
They are probably the most clueless politician on Earth? And they claim they want technological sovereignty…

VLC 3.0.24 is out.
This is a maintenance release focusing on security, with more than 130 security bugs found, but also adding small features like CEA-708 in MP4 or ATRAC codecs support, and updating 3rd party libraries.
videolan.org/vlc/releases/3.…
This release still works from Windows XP to 11, macOS 10.7 to 27, most Linux, BSD and OS/2.

The maintenance of VLC, and especially this release fixing all those security issues is clearly sponsored by @sovtechfund.
If you are German, don't forget to thank your MPs.
VDD 26 conference is upon us, in 4 weeks, in Roma.

"Play Cyberpunk 2077 on a Pentium III from 1999"
Our crazy demo and our 90s teenagers room booth won the best of the show award at @IBCShow
Yes, Cyberpunk is fully playbable on the PIII and on the CRT screen through @Kyber_tech with extremely low latency.
Yes, this is a booth in a normal tradeshow :)
