Gian Lorenzo Bernini was just 23 years old when he finished The Abduction of Proserpina in 1622. Widely regarded as one of the greatest achievements of the Baroque era, the sculpture is celebrated for making solid Carrara marble appear remarkably soft and lifelike. Its most famous detail depicts Pluto’s fingers sinking into Proserpina’s thigh, creating the astonishing illusion of flesh yielding under pressure.
Through dramatic movement, deep shadows, and exquisitely polished surfaces, Bernini transformed rigid stone into what seems like flowing fabric, delicate skin, and even tears. Today, this extraordinary display of artistry and emotion can be seen at the Galleria Borghese in Rome.

Muslims hold Jesus in high esteem as one of the greatest prophets and messengers of God (Allah). Key points from Islamic teachings, including the Quran: Jesus is explicitly named as a prophet, born miraculously to the Virgin Mary (Maryam), and performed miracles like speaking as an infant, healing the sick, and raising the dead—with God's permission. He is described as a "word" from God and a "spirit" from Him, but not divine or part of a trinity (which Islam rejects as polytheism). Jesus is mentioned over 90 times in the Quran, more than some other prophets, and is promised to return in the end times to defeat evil and establish justice. Today, Trump is arriving at the Knesset to deliver a victory speech, undoubtedly filled with self-aggrandizement and lies.
Although it is a positive development that this genocide has ended and the hostages are being released, we must not be confused: Trump was a supporter of this genocide from the very beginning, and an active partner in it since the start of his presidency. We should and shall never forget that Trump was the one who said “You’re talking about a million and a half people [in Gaza], and we just clean out that whole thing”, and that “Under my plan Gazans would relocate permanently, not be able to return.” He also explicitly threatened that in Gaza “all hell will break out”. With his complete support for the murderous government, he not only enabled the continuation of the genocide but also the continued abandonment of the kidnapped. Don't thank him: boo him!
It was only once Israel became too insane, chaotic and unstable to serve Trump’s imperialist interests that he decided to put an end to the bloodshed. A man who sends troops to invade his own cities and arrest and harass his own people, on top of his imperialist moves, certainly has not an ounce of care for either the Israeli or Palestinian people.
Only a just peace, built on the two-state solution and complete self-determination for the Palestinian people, can bring stability and prosperity between the river and the sea, not the imperialist schemes of a demented narcissist and sexual predator.
