Single axis motor control board for our gimbals. 0.03° RMS hold, measured at rest on the bench. FOC direct-drive torque control with a ~1 kHz attitude loop. Native MAVLink Gimbal Device, so it drops into @ArduPilotTeam and @PX4Autopilot. Auto-tune and a 1 kHz onboard capture recorder. Flight-tested on a Class II airframe. NDAA compliant, built in USA.

About $5,000 a drone at 1,520 units. At that price point the camera can't be an afterthought, and it can't cost as much as the airframe either
Taiwanese company Thunder Tiger Technology, in partnership with U.S. company Farage Precision and Taiwan’s Rehfeldt Group, has completed the delivery of 1,520 FPV strike drones to the U.S. Department of Defense under the Drone Dominance Program. The order is valued at $7.6 million, averaging approximately $5,000 per drone. The team secured the order after placing 11th in the program’s first evaluation round, known as Gauntlet I. The delivery consists of the 10-inch Overkill FPV drone. The systems use Blue UAS-approved hardware and Auterion flight controllers, meeting the program’s requirements for compliant supply chains. The Overkill family includes FPV drones designed for strike missions. Previously reported specifications for the family include a maximum speed of 120 km/h (75 mph), a payload capacity of up to 3 kg (6.6 lb), and a flight time of up to 30 minutes. These figures have not been independently confirmed for the specific 10-inch variant delivered under this contract. Source: Army Recognition

Good EO/IR on a small airframe is mostly about vibration. The sensor is the easy part.

Every gram on a small drone is a negotiation. The camera, the gimbal, the cable that connects them. We count all of it
25
Question for small UAS operators: what fails first on your cameras in the field? Connectors, mounts, or software? Genuinely asking

Small camera, big job. Most of the work is everything that happens after the lens
36
Vision compute that fits in your palm and runs the model next to the sensor. Fewer boxes on the airframe, fewer cables to fail.

FLIR shipping air-to-ground detect and track as software on the camera stack. Perception is moving closer to the sensor. The gimbal still has to keep the world still long enough for it to matter. oem.flir.com/en-au/about/new…

In small UAS, the mission isn’t won by the coolest payload. It’s won by the last gram that still flies.
