We have now completed over 100 bat activity surveys since 1st May and last night was arguably the most spectacular. Over 20 noctule bats were closely observed foraging at a site near Leconfield, E. Yorks. @_BCT_ @Mammal_Society @MammalNextDoor @BBCSpringwatch @EYBG1

Bluefin tuna have returned to UK waters so why is the Government so eager to kill them? 'Instead of being cherished and protected, bluefin tuna are being hunted to supply high-end restaurants with luxury meat.' Read @sraytweets article below: 1/2 blueplanetsociety.org/bluefi…

The only scary thing about bats is imagining a world without them. They pollinate, reforest, control insect populations, and more! They make the world go 'round. 🌍 📷 Hugo Willocx/FotoNatura/Minden Pictures

Our National Bat Helpline often gets calls from people who have found #bats stuck in sticky traps. If you find a bat in this situation please don't try to unglue it yourself. Get some gloves and place the bat with the sticky trap in a box and call 0345 1300 228 (UK only). bats.org.uk/advice/help-ive-…

Sobering news: The @USFWS declared 10 bird species extinct yesterday. With 1 in 8 birds in the world today threatened, and many more in decline, we must redouble our efforts to protect species and habitats to ensure they never become as imperiled. fws.gov/press-release/2023-1…

Metoecus paradoxus is a curious little beetle, which looks more like a fly. Unusually for a beetle this is a parasite of wasp grubs, which it consumes within their nest cells. Never particularly common, so was nice to find this female along the garden path today. @ColSocBI

Trail Cams back out for the winter. It didn't take too long for one of the local Otters to realise something was out of place. This curiosity is usually short lived. Its always a pleasure to see these animals after spending time studying their signs, pop dynamics and behaviour.

Here's some impressive tokenistic nonsense! These trees are never going to make it, but most shocking is that an architect obviously designed it, a landscape architect must have overseen it, and a planning authority consented it! The cumulative incompetence is staggering.
