Symptoms caused by soybean vein necrosis virus in North Alabama starting early this year. Observed in multiple fields today. Symptoms appear as yellow to reddish-brown lesions that spread along leaf veins. Yield loss unlikely @CropNetwork #Virus #Soybean @VirologyAPS

Tomato spotted wilt (virus) starting to appear across Alabama. Symptoms include distortion of leaves that turn pale green with purplish spots. Fruit often express ringspots. Plants infected early are stunted & yield poorly. Thrips transmit the virus @VirologyAPS @plantdisease

Tomato spotted wilt virus on tomato. TSWV is spread by thrips & has a wide host range. Symptoms include brown necrotic spots on leaves & petioles, plus twisting of terminals and plant stunting. Best control is to use a variety resistant to TSW @VirologyAPS @plantdisease #Tomato

Read the article led by @MWestOrtiz about a new 🦠 in cotton, which is also integrated in its genome and those of related allotetraploid Gossypium species. @VectorBioSpace
While investigating cotton leafroll dwarf virus in Mississippi, @MWestOrtiz et al. identified a novel virus, cotton virus A (CotVA), in Gossypium plants. @HeckLab_USDA Learn more: doi.org/10.1094/PBIOMES-10-2…

Easy read on characterization of soybean vein necrosis virus (SVNV) proteins. SVNV is a thrips transmitted virus disease of soybean which causes angular lesions on infected soybean leaves. It does not appear to be economically important at this time @CropNetwork #Soybean #Virus
