TOLKIEN VS THE MACHINE
Tolkien didn’t just tell stories. He built a civilization - languages first, then myths to house them, then centuries of history, then finally the tales we know.
Decades of obsession forged Middle-earth. The labor is part of the magic.
AI can spin up a fake Silmarillion in seconds. But when everything is instant, nothing feels weighty.
Worlds born from prompts are cosplay; worlds wrestled into being are pilgrimage.
That’s the difference between myth and “slop.”
The future isn’t AI replacing obsession - it’s AI amplifying it.
Tolkien with a machine could’ve drafted Quenya roots overnight, then spent years chiseling the soul.
Myth doesn’t endure because it exists. It endures because someone bled for it.
