CIA says “discreet”, and Rubio says “discrete”. Three layers of dumb.

We just need to step back from the brink

Given the pain that’s in the market, and the calendar, there’s only 2-3 weeks to repair sentiment (esp credit markets). If we’re still fooling around macro-wise (will he won’t he) come mid-Nov, risk of a flush goes up considerably as people just go into full P&L protection mode.

But it’s very discouraging that it’s come to this. The overall market has been resilient despite all this (yes there’s carnage underneath but it’s somewhat explainable) but it can’t stay here if people wake up on weekend checking news and wake up at 3am to check futures.

Today was the most “rational” day for the attack on Iran before U.S. elections and it hasn’t happened. The next best window is end of Nov when the Roosevelt gets to the ME. If Israeli election results are better for the opposition maybe that creates a somewhat favorable window.

Stunning spikes and stunning timing. Days before Election Day, gas prices are going parabolic in some of the states that could decide the balance of power in Congress. Two-day (yes, 48 hours) spikes: Michigan: +33 cents Ohio: +39 cents More on @NewsCentralCNN w/ @brikeilarcnn

It can be argued that ahem…. suboptimal PSKY syndication was the match that lit the fire, forcing groups to sell what they were OW, which cascaded and made AI issuance a core market factor… and now we can’t put the genie back in the bottle.

The GRU hacked into Jared Kushner's iPhone. Dutch military intelligence (MIVD) then recruited a GRU spy who gave them access to the hacked phone. What MIVD discovered was that Kushner had access to two bank accounts --one Azerbaijani, the other Israeli --where Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Emirati ruler Mohammed bin Zayed deposited money. It sounds like a slightly far-fetched episode of "Slow Horses," but it's real. And it proves just how eye-poppingly corrupt this administration was and continues to be as its "special envoy" decides the fate of tens of millions in Europe in the Middle East. Simply incredible reporting by Matthew Cole, drawn from his new book on Kushner. vanityfair.com/story/jared-k…

This kind of analysis tells you why the street stopped listening to him mid-25.
On Oct 1 the S&P500 closed at 7666 with 10yr yields at 5.24%. Today the S&P500 closed at 7663 with 10yr yields at 4.95%. Attributing the sharp yield moves of late to “risk-off” price action seems highly disingenuous - especially when the S&P500 sits a mere 1.5% below its record highs.

Not going to lie. My confidence is quite a bit shaken vs a week ago. What was supposed to be clearing events are not proving to be so and market is pretzeling into inconvenient positions. This dumb motherfucker needs to taco soon else he will be forced to.
Past week, a good few of bears’ wet dreams have come true (hot CPI, hot PPI, real questions on AI growth) and risk assets are still *here*. Now it’s possible it’s all about to come tumbling down, but that wouldn’t be my bet. I think we’re looking at a very jittery ride up.

Couple of shops highlighted in this Bloomberg alert but you have to ask what this means for a lot of other groups that ply the trade, and you’ll arrive at some interesting conclusions.

I really think at this rate Ghalibaf unveiling out of a hijab would do it for him. We could have the best MoU.
Trump: "I met the owner of the restaurant. He said, 'Mr. President, I'd like to kiss you.' He's a very powerful man. I don't want this guy kissing me, but he's a powerful, influential man. He said, 'Sir, I want to kiss you.' I said, 'Why?' He said, 'Sir, I really want to kiss you.' So I said, 'No, thank you.'"

Would really have preferred a big red open that turned green by close tomorrow. This is just not going to give this debate closure.

My stinkiest shorts (all different themes) were up last wk, and that’s usually a good tell that there’s de-gross that’s in action vs a large-scale selling in HY market. I think there’s less than half week of this action left, if that. When risk allocation is cut, mgrs move fast.

Sorry, misread you. Apologies. Yeah it’s just a messy tape and even if the issuers are giving concessions, it’s still trading down because market is very choppy. Issuance will remain robust in both LL and HY because issuers either need to roll maturities or there’s M&A because belief is it’ll be harder later. AI issuance is its own thing obviously with its own separate dynamics. Growth is still there for most companies so the impulse to do things has to slow down materially for issuance to come down
