Welcome to the People on Volcanoes Podcast! This thread will talk a little bit more about what we're all about...
Sorry for the delay everyone but episode 6 IS OUT! This episode we travel to La Palma, click this 🧵 to read about our amazing guests... open.spotify.com/episode/3SH…
Our final guest is Romy Meyer @RmyMeyer from @UUEarthSciences talking about the importance of paleomagnetic data and why La Palma was chosen as the ideal place for her fieldwork!
Finally, we would like to say if you want to hear from the residents of La Palma on the impact of the 2021 eruption then please head on over to lavabombsfilm.com/ @LavaBombsFilm . Lava Bombs 2: The Reconstruction will be available this summer!
Introducing...Katia! Thank you if you voted for the name of our mascot - it was a very close race! The name Katia is from the famous volcanologist Katia Krafft...🧵
On the 3rd of June 1991 Katia, Maurice, and their fellow volcanologist Harry Glicken were visiting Mount Unzen in Japan to observe an eruption. At 4pm a pyroclastic flow rushed down its slopes and tragically killed 41 people including Katia and Maurice
WE have had some FANTASTIC name suggestions for our mascot...but after some serious thinking we've narrowed it down to four! Get voting below - you have 24 hours
38%Poppy
23%Quentin Eruptino
23%Explosiva
15%Katia

We need a name for the 'People on Volcanoes' mascot! Any ideas? If your name gets chosen you can choose what volcano you would like to be the focus for episode 7! (Episode 6 is already in the works...)
