America made the first electronic computer to win a war.
Now we depend on our greatest adversaries to build the computers that run our economy and defend our nation.
Today, we bring it home.
Incredibly excited to debut the Volund Manufacturing VT-100 at the Air Force Innovation Expo in Tucson this week. Some of our first testing units were on display. This is a 100lbf class engine specifically engineered with attritable munitions in mind. Please reach out for more info.

Palmer Luckey on how he hires at Anduril: he looks for people who worked on projects they cared about, not ones given to them, because that's what drives you to learn the most.
"Whether it's college or the state-mandated younger educational system, don't look to them to tell you, 'Here's what electronics projects you should be working on. Here's what you should be doing to learn how to do these things.'"
"One, they're often years or even decades behind what industry and hobbyists are actually doing, so you're gonna be learning how to do things that are ancient."
"Two, when you're working on something that you're only doing for yourself, you're gonna make way better decisions in what you teach yourself, in how you do things."
"When I hire people at Anduril, I look for people who have done projects that were outside of what their work paid them to do or what their school made them do. Because that means they're the type of person who is willing to work on things with their own money and their own time, because they wanna bring something into this world that wouldn't have existed otherwise."

Had a great conversation with Greg Toroosian, go listen to it here:

Remembering Jeremy Glick.
He was 31, a judo champion, a rugby captain, a new father.
He married his high-school sweetheart, Lyz.
Their daughter, Emerson, was twelve weeks old.
He was supposed to fly the day before.
On September 11, 2001, he boarded United Flight 93 in Newark.
After the hijacking he called Lyz.
He asked if it was true that planes had been flown into the World Trade Center.
She told him it was.
He understood then what the plane was being used for.
He told her the passengers were voting on whether to rush the cockpit.
He joked about butter knives.
She told him he needed to do it.
He said he loved her.
He told her not to be sad.
He told her to take care of their daughter, and that he would be all right with whatever choices she made.
Then he said they were going to rush the hijackers.
Stay on the line, he said.
I’ll be back.
He did not come back.
The plane went down in a Pennsylvania field. The Capitol was never hit.
He was a take-charge guy, his family said. In the last minutes of his life he made sure his wife knew he loved them, and then he went forward.
Say his name today.

I reread this every year.
I cry like a baby every year.
Todd Beamer died a father, husband, and hero.
Todd: Hello… Operator… listen to me. I can’t speak very loud. This is an emergency. I’m a passenger on a United flight to San Francisco. Our plane has been hijacked.
Lisa: I understand. Can they see you?
Todd: No. There are three that we know of. They have knives — razor knives, like box cutters. Someone announced from the cockpit there was a bomb. It sounded fake.
Lisa: Your name?Todd: Todd Beamer. United Flight 93.Todd: They killed one passenger in first class. They forced most of us back. Fourteen of us here. Five flight attendants. The guy with the bomb ordered us to sit on the floor.
Lisa: Are you okay?
Todd: We’re going down… wait. No. We’re leveling off. We changed directions. We’re flying east again.
Todd: A guy named Jeremy called his wife. She told him two planes hit the World Trade Center. Lisa, is that true?
Lisa: I have to tell you the truth. It’s very bad. Both towers are gone. A third plane hit the Pentagon. Our country is under attack. I’m afraid your plane may be part of their plan.
Todd: Oh God. Lisa, will you do something for me? Call my wife and my kids. Promise me you’ll call.
Lisa: I promise.
Todd: Our home number is… You have the same name as my wife. Lisa. We’ve been married ten years. She’s pregnant with our third child. Tell her I love her. I’ll always love her. We have two boys — David, he’s 3, and Andrew, he’s 1. Tell them their daddy loves them and he is so proud of them. The baby is due January 12th. I saw an ultrasound. We still don’t know if it’s a girl or a boy.
Lisa: I’ll tell them. I promise, Todd.(Lisa patches in the FBI.)
Agent: Todd, your plane is on a course for Washington. Best guess is the White House or the Capitol.
Todd: I understand. I’ll be back.
Todd: Everyone knows this isn’t a normal hijacking. We have decided we will not be pawns in their plot.
Lisa: What are you going to do?
Todd: Four of us are going to rush the one with the bomb. Then the cockpit. A stewardess is getting boiling water. We’ll take them out.
Todd: Would you pray with me?They pray the Lord’s Prayer. Then: Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me.
Todd: God help me. Jesus help me.Are you guys ready? Let’s Roll.

Everyone watching Iran's state-run TV news program probably noticed they picked up an Anduril Dive-LD, our mass-produced attritable submarine.
This particular vehicle has been swimming in CENTCOM for months, successfully operating in support of American forces for thousands of hours. It was explicitly designed to operate in environments too dangerous for humans where capture is an expected possibility. I can't get into the details, but it provided significant value for months before capture.
Rest in peace, little buddy.

What are top manufacturing and tech companies looking for? High agency people.
That’s what James Sonntag at @VolundMfg told us as we filmed a series designed to inspire students to pursue careers in advanced manufacturing.
Curiosity. Ambition. High jinks and side quests are welcome.
@collision, co-founder of Stripe, once wrote, “As you become an adult, you realize that things around you weren't just always there; people made them happen. But only recently have I started to internalize how much tenacity everything requires. That hotel, that park, that railway. The world is a museum of passion projects.”
The world is full of comforts and designs brought to us by people who dared to bring their visions and dreams to life, imposing their ideas on reality.
It is hard.
It’s hard to bring an idea into the world and to convince others that what you dream of can be a reality. But there isn’t another way to do it. It requires grit, determination, resilience - in other words, high agency.
For the last forty years, Americans have been endlessly innovating, and that is wonderful.
But we’ve outsourced and abdicated many of the jobs that involve actually building the thing.
Things stall too often at prototypes, and innovation doesn’t bring broad prosperity if we lose the ability to turn it into reality ourselves.
To provide Americans with jobs that instill pride, prosperity and purpose, we need to make America a place where big ideas aren’t just born, but built..
This is what excites me about space and energy. It’s true of defense and national security, too, and why companies like @anduril are thriving.
Let’s get back in the game of building things that don’t exist yet.
Let's reindustrialize.
