St. Petersburg is the most beautiful city I ever lived in, and I Iived in Istanbul, Chicago, New York, Kyiv, Athens & other great places. Still, I am satisfied to see it burn. It is a necessary lesson Russian imperialism has to take. So that one day, Piter can be beautiful again.
I will never believe the people are scared of income and ability to afford necessities and goods beyond it. The experience of unemployment is not only uncomfortable but also a real threat to one’s life. Fuck this circle jerk of being scared to get up at 7 and go to work
80% of workers experience “Sunday Scaries” — anticipatory anxiety that peaks Sunday night
The physiological effects are so real that heart attacks spike Monday morning by 20%, while the sympathetic nervous system activates for the workweek
The body essentially treats the return to work as a physical threat
My view of politics based on voters intentions dynamics in recent years is that electoral process is pure vibe now. You can have no program but you will succeed because vibe is there. That’s brings me closer to accelerationism as I just want to see incompetent parties win big

I find LLMs very helpful for scientific writing. I do the legwork of planning out what to say, track down citations, sketch out the flow, feed all of this to the LLM to generate a draft, and the output is so awful it motivates me to write it out the right way in disgust

It’s interesting how instead of mimicking humans texts LLMs concentrated on replicating very niche „marketing“ lingo patterns. If someone gave you a salesman speech like this you would think they are creeps, but attention grifters here still think it is what a reader wants.

The thing is X. We thought it was Y.
A pitch to grab your attention. Another one, building unnecessary tension. Short sentence. Another short sentence.
The X is not just X. It’s some unrelated thing. Not because Y, but because Z are doing stuff.
Dramatic sentence in the end

"Preparing for War" is now announced for publication in the US with @OUPAcademic in August 2026 (a few months after the Europe release). Just in time for the new academic year.
Friends in PME, this could be of interest to your students, and a great addition to courses on military innovation/adaptation, and defence planning.

Surprisingly, but the "woke" left are stuck in 1916 with their hate for U-Boot warfare. On the other hand the right only despise the usage of FPV drones and mentally stuck in GWOT era, what makes them more progressive. Truly remarkable.
