New webinar from @Voptica
Experts discuss #ArtIOLs, the inverted meniscus intraocular lenses designed to improve peripheral image quality, reduce negative dysphotopsias and offer extended depth of focus.
Clinical insights from more than 5,000 implants.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of introducing and moderating the #ArtIOLs webinar with Tobias Neuhann and Sheraz Daya, who shared their real-world clinical experience with our inverted-meniscus IOL technology. @Voptica
Tobias presented his experience after more than 600 ArtIOLs implantations in one year, with a particularly strong statement about the Art25: “ArtIOLs 25 is my standard of care.”
Sheraz presented his bilateral experience with the Art40/Art70 combination: 20/32 or better binocular uncorrected vision in 100% of patients at far, 100% at intermediate (60 cm), and 96% at near (40 cm). His conclusion was “very satisfactory outcomes”, with no dysphotopsias reported and all but one patient spectacle-free.
Two broader points from the webinar seem especially worth keeping:
1) Full-range functional vision does not necessarily require diffractive optics.
2) Vision is not only about the fovea. Improving the peripheral optics remains one of the distinctive ideas behind the inverted-meniscus design.
Many thanks to Tobias and Sheraz for sharing their experience so openly, and to everyone who joined us. For those who could not attend, we will share the recording soon.

I have written and published a practical guide to cataracts.
It is my first venture into this kind of patient-oriented science communication, after many years of receiving questions and requests for advice on the subject.
The book is entitled: "I Have Cataracts: What Do I Need to Know?" and is intended for patients and their families.
My aim is to provide clear, objective, and non-promotional information about cataract diagnosis, surgery, and the decisions that really matter.

I am delighted to announce that the 2nd Edition of the Handbook of Visual Optics is now available!
This fully updated two-volume reference covers the entire field of visual optics, from eye optics and visual perception to adaptive optics, OCT, wavefront sensing, vision correction, refractive surgery, advanced IOL technologies, and many other recent developments.
Nearly a decade after the first edition, it has been fascinating to revisit the field and document the remarkable advances that continue to transform vision science and ophthalmic optics.
My sincere thanks to the outstanding contributors and colleagues from around the world whose expertise and dedication made this project possible.
The book is currently available at a promotional price.

Vuelvo a publicar en @JotDownSpain un artículo largo: “¿El fin de las publicaciones científicas?”
Es una reflexión sobre un asunto que me preocupa, escrita desde mi experiencia durante décadas como investigador y editor.
