This is my favourite story I've written for MCC. A very cool project that realized gender equity needed to be at the heart of an agricultural project in Zimbabwe. mcccanada.ca/stories/great-m…
Another Ukraine story, this one about much-needed relief that's finally arrived for ~40k thousand people. And the story of Nadiya, who still has an unexploded Russian rocket buried in her rosebush. mcccanada.ca/stories/rockets…
This is by far the longest story I've written for work. When I was in South Sudan last year, Mary mentioned she'd been protected by the school, and when I asked what she meant, she shared this story with me. Spoiler: The hyenas didn't eat her. mcc.org/our-stories/girl-cal…
I've learned a lot of people who have lactose issues don't actually know which dairy products contain much lactose. So if that's you, enjoy this chart:
Bonus facts: Any cheese aged more than 2 years naturally contains no lactose.

“For McCracken, the most pressing concern is for Christian men to be seen as the superheroes rescuing the oppressed from injustice. “If Christianity is seen more as an oppressor than a liberator, after all, something else must play the part of liberator,” he fears.

Because these women stand up for themselves against their oppressors, McCracken complains the liberator is “the empowered self.” If women can defend themselves, then complementarian men are no longer the heroes.”

Great piece from @DoubleEmMartin. YFC has failed these kids and failed to love the way Christ showed us.
Imagine my surprise hearing @horstpwr namedrop @mccpeace in the most recent @LinusTech video. Thanks for the shoutout, Jonathan!
Nice to see someone connecting these dots explicitly. Non-affirming churches simply will not bring the next generation to the table in the way they desperately need to.

We know you’re occupied with Election Day chaos, so let us help: It’s anti-abortion, not pro-life; pro–abortion rights, not pro-choice; “reelect” doesn’t use a hyphen, and the term you’re looking for to describe US politics is spelled “shitshow.” 🗳️

For a little more than $8, you can boost earnings for families around the world. Chickens provide a source of eggs and meat as well increase a families' monthly income.
Gift a chicken this Christmas. Visit mcc.org/christmas for more details.

It really feels like both candidates that I like best both also have major things that make me concerned about how they'd run things. It's less like "lesser of two evils" and more like "I have to pick a movie before I leave the video store, but nothing sounds good."

We may not feel like we experience too many effects of climate change here in the middle of the continent, but having record-breaking dry and wet years back-to-back is, uh, bad. cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/…
Love when a gross guy gets to try to rebuild his image on materials about recovering from grossness while downplaying just how gross he was in the first place.
MCC Manitoba is looking for a communicator. A great opportunity for #crecomm folks, especially if non-profit work, international relief and development or peacebuilding are things that excite you.

The death penalty is barbaric and the fact that the U.S. still uses it regularly is horrifying.
There's no making amends for what he did, but another needless death at the hands of the state isn't just.
Winnipeg voters, if you're not sure what any candidate's actual platform is, CBC has a great resource here of everything they've claimed they'll do with sources. Be an informed voter!

Genuine question, but have tax cuts to the rich ever actually worked to help an economy? Every example I know of (not a long list) has been shown to have not "trickled down" at all and only made the rich richer. Are there any counterexamples?

In my Christian school education, we talked about Christian Resistance and abolitionist figures - but I don’t recall any serious discussion of the fact that Christian societies, institutions, and individuals also promoted Nazism and slavery.
