Just another day on the @MBTA as Green Line passengers are forced to evacuate a disabled trolley and walk the Lechmere viaduct. It’s another reminder that we must #TaxTheRich (i.e. wealthy individuals and big businesses) to #FixTheT and make it free for all to use! #mapoli

If you live in greater Boston/burbs you can help #StopTheWeymouthCompressor by asking your town officials to request that MAPC withdraw their Health Impact Assessment until they can review & incorporate latest data. Lives are at stake & so is the #climate. #EnvironmentalJustice

The closest we ever got to comprehensive climate change legislation was Waxman-Markey in 2009. We passed it in the House but it died in the Senate due in no small part to Chamber of Commerce lobbying. @SenWhitehouse perfectly outlines the corrosive role of the #ChamberofCarbon:
In 2009, @USChamber helped kill cap and trade legislation authored by @SenMarkey & @WaxmanClimate. #ChamberofCarbon uschamber.com/letter/letter-…

A 'middle ground' policy that's supportive of more fossil fuel development is a death sentence for our generation and the millions of people on the frontlines of the climate crisis.

Just your regular reminder that globally, governments spend an estimated $5.2 trillion subsidizing fossil fuel companies.
So the next time a politician tries to ask where the money for a #JustTransition will come from... bit.ly/2LxJEQl

Where are the breaking news?
The extra news broadcasts?
The front pages?
Where are the emergency meetings?
The crisis summits?
What could be more important?
We are failing but we have not yet failed.
We can still fix this.
But not if we continue like today.
Not a chance.
The biggest and worst news humanity has ever received - the collapse of life on Earth - was revealed by the #IPBES report yesterday. Only two UK newspapers (Guardian and Independent) carried it on their front pages. As for the rest ... you've guessed it. Thread/

A new UN report concludes that 1mn spices risk extinction because of human activity. And that the destruction of nature threatens humanity.
And yet, this is not top news. As long as it continues like this, as long as the media fails to take responsibility, we stand no chance.
