Old growth western juniper trees nearly all have air pocket filled rotten wood in the center&impossible to age. So with fire the tree just goes Whoosh- burning in a chimney effect from the inside out in a flash. This leaves wild skeletal forms where only a bit of wood remains.

Another cow culture smitten reporter who's not really reporting & checking facts. Like the fact that cattle ranchers get USDA Drought disaster relief funds & Fire disaster relief funds & other federal handouts + now there's some kind of diesel "relief". opb.org/article/2026/10/25/d…

"The most alarming thing is the extent of this decline... Canada is home to 94 per cent of the global common loon population, with an estimated 254,000 breeding couples (half a million individuals) that migrate north to make the next generation". cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/…

Human development, climate change, water pollution. It's easy to write everything off to climate change- but it interacts with a host of human pressures.

Native Trout hanging on for dear life in terrible muck conditions in Short Creek in the Pahsimeroi. Stakes & cut willows “beaver dam analogues” are BLM mitigation/a ruse to keep cow herds beating out the stream. Used to be Salmon/Steelhead.

Just like the old East India Company, these robber baron companies, presided over as they are by unaccountable oligarchs, are more powerful than Sovereign states. They have contempt for us.
Google illegally cleared an estimated 250,000 trees across 330 hectares of forest in Muhos, northern Finland, to prepare for a new AI data center before completing mandatory environmental impact assessments And another 150,000 trees felled at Otanmäki theguardian.com/environment/…

“Nothing but respect,” Blaise Ballantyne wrote beside the Yellowstone wolf he killed. WMU 313 closed Sept. 25. The photo posted Oct 18. Killed there after closure? Reported? @MontanaFWP must answer. If Yellowstone’s wolves aren’t safe, no wolves are safe: TeamWolf.org/take-action

Sierra Club's Ag committee may ✂️ this from policy: "Livestock are the major source of greenhouse gases from agriculture, so minimizing the production and consumption of domestic animals that produce the most methane is one critical way to reduce greenhouse gas production".

The Sierra Club claims to be super-climate conscious. Who can forget all those “green” emails cheering on xmission lines they sent in the Biden years? Will the methane control ag policy be gutted for starry eyed Regen folks & donors?

The US cattle industry has been in an uproar over these worms. Now one has been detected in "wildlife" (a Game Farm elk) reported by a "hunter". What kind of conditions was the elk kept in? Note that Game Farm spread of CWD has been a big concern. morningagclips.com/usda-conf…

A lineage of badgers has made a home in my old barn. I get to know them, leave them alone (ok I do talk to them so they are not surprised by my presence). This is the mom, daughter of a great old badger mother, who now has two cubs of her own. She is missing an eye but healthy

Ancient Juniper burned in Big Grass Fire or firebreak. Robins, Solitaires, Bluebirds all eat juniper berries in winter. They’re out there now in remnant areas with live trees. The BLM BOSH purposeful juniper killing+now Big Grass Fire =huge blow to juniper birds.

More breaking news: DHS has requested the Supreme Court to step in and allow bulldozers to resume tearing into Big Bend National Park. We will fight this horrific attack on this crown jewel national park and the whole Big Bend region every step of the way.

BREAKING: Federal judge Kathleen Cardone, a Bush appointee, denies DHS request to allow Big Bend border wall construction to resume, citing the irreparable harm suffered if the project is allowed to continue. DHS requested Judge Cardone lift the injunction, largely putting forth the same arguments that she had already rejected. DHS has indicated intentions to petition the Supreme Court to take this case, but even if they do, the outcome is not a given. The main argument we've used in our case--the Major Questions Doctrine--has been historically favored by conservative justices, some of whom are currently on the court.
