WRHND Updates

1/
Ben Lamm, the guy who brought back the dire wolf, just teamed up with Palmer Luckey of Anduril. Their new company is called Warhound. It makes cloned, gene-edited military dogs. Here's what's actually going on 🧵 2/
Warhound came out of stealth this week with $200M raised at a $1.2B valuation. Investors include Sequoia, 8VC and In-Q-Tel, the venture arm backed by US intelligence agencies. It's based in Dallas, same as Colossal. 3/
The problem they're going after is that more than 80% of US working dogs are bought from Europe, and fewer than half of the dogs bought actually qualify for service. Warhound wants to build a domestic supply of elite dogs. 4/
How it works: They've biobanked cells from top-performing service dogs, mostly Belgian Malinois, plus some labs and shepherds. Then they clone the dogs and edit the embryos. It's the same process Colossal used for the dire wolf, just with modern dogs. 5/
The first edits aren't superpowers. They target the stuff that wrecks working dogs, like hip dysplasia and certain cancers. The goal is healthier dogs that stay in service longer. 6/
Anduril's part is the gear, not the genes. Eye and ear protection, plus tech that gives handlers a live view of what the dog is seeing. Lamm's line: "on top of the dog, not in the dog." Luckey is a partner, but neither he nor Anduril owns equity 7/
First cloned litters are expected in early 2027. So what do you think? Smart way to fix a real supply problem, or a line we shouldn't cross? Reply and tell me. I'll be following this one closely. solana:GTZPzH1b6TGm62WbGYcCT4BhvVBhBRtYQqx7rSzwpump
