You can join mastodon here: joinmastodon.org/
It's free, doesn't have ads, and doesn't track you all over the place. It's run by volunteers and donations afaik. It also doesn't have algorithms to keep you online as long as possible, which also makes it hard to find accounts

Queen Elizabeth's funeral cost an est. $9 million — adding to the est. $116 million bill UK taxpayers pay every year to support the royals.
Due to the ceremony, hospitals canceled "non-urgent" services like cancer treatment and many food banks have closed "out of respect."

What a weekend!
From @HabitatWR welcoming 13 families on Kehl St, to @TinyHomeTakeout hosting their 2nd annual Hunger No More fundraiser, @CMW_KW2010 hosting Tea and Tales at Schneider Haus, to @MSS_KW celebrating their 15 year anniversary, and more - our community was abuzz! – at Kitchener, Ontario

Talked to a lot of fine folks today at the Anti Violence gathering in Victoria Park. Check out Waterloo Region Nonviolence group if you are also concerned about violence. It's part of my vision for trustee
