I can’t believe he is actually making his closing argument speech about the reflecting pool renovations. This is a bad resistance lib joke come to life.

"Team"...
Replying to @jeremymbarr
(Apologies for initially errantly writing this was a memo to Pelley -- was obviously to staff)

It's also tragic.
This is really atrocious.

The @PulitzerPrizes decision to award @jkbjournalist a special citation for work she did exposing Epstein a decade ago is an unusual acknowledgment that the Pulitzer Board messed up badly when they ignored her work in the first place after a pressure campaign by Dersh etc.

This. Could we also keep talking about the number of guns out there? Or have we given up on that part of the conversation?
What happened last night might have seemed extraordinary because President Trump and so many people in the presidential line of succession were in the ballroom when shots were fired outside. But we need to say out loud that it was actually all too ordinary. In America, this is all too common: a shots-fired moment, a chaotic lockdown, a spasm of violence interrupting a peaceful gathering. Thousands of media and political elites have now gone through what countless millions of other Americans have experienced in their schools, offices, malls and churches. And on most of those occasions, there were no Secret Service agents. As I crouched underneath a table in the ballroom, I didn’t know much, but I knew that help was on the way. Waves of law enforcement officials were pouring into the room, leaping from chair to chair, securing the scene. A man near me seemed hurt, or at least dazed, and a police officer helped him limp away. Everyone in the room gave thanks to the agents, bodyguards and officers who responded. But I couldn’t help but think that most of the Americans who have found themselves in the middle of a shots-fired emergency feel much more exposed, much more vulnerable. And I think we should keep acknowledging that during the follow-up news coverage of this incident. cnn.com/2026/04/26/media/cor…

Going well beyond the president, I think it would be a good thing for non-Catholics generally to have fewer opinions about who should be pope and what kind of pope he should be.

ICE armed with assault rifles break down bedroom door—yelling "I'm going to take you down!" "I'm going to use this!" agent said pointing to gun. "We are going to gas your whole house." Lupe López was asleep in bed—so we're her 8 & 13 year old brothers. "Why do you do this?" woman filming asks. "Why do you break families apart? You don't have a family?" ICE claims they were searching for a relative who hit one of their vehicles—his family says "They made this up." The incident occurred in Lower Providence Township, Pennsylvania—about 15 miles northwest of Philadelphia.

The number of Substacks I subscribe to is getting totally out of hand but if any of the laid off Post Metro reporters got together to launch one I would be the first to sign up.

While their day jobs may be different, the advice of men and women anchored in years of religious life — such as nuns and priests — focuses on the same tools as laymen for navigating difficult times: Contemplation, community, empathy and solidarity with those who are often forgotten.religionunplugged.com/news/a…
