Thank you to everyone who came to the event today - some great discussions had and lots of ideas to take this work forward 😀
Key Takeaways:
🔹Wider language - Social prescribing may not resonate
🔹Understand the silence - are the same groups disengaged across all services?
🔹Those doing the connecting don’t need all the answers—they’ll find the info if supported
🔹 Leaders act on identified gaps
Emerging themes:
🔍 Need clarity—does social prescribing work as a term for children?
🤝 Call for joint Family Hub & social prescriber meetings
👶 Primary care to refer people to family hubs Antenatal services
📞 Incentivise & encourage peer support—phone a friend!
Lets discuss:
🔹 How shared resources & collaboration can reach infants, children & families not accessing services
🔹 How social prescribing could work for CYP & families in Integrated Neighbourhood Teams (INT)
🔹Ideas on ways of working to support the principles of INT
What is social prescribing? In Walsall we define this as 'Social prescribers enable people along a journey to achieve their personal wellbeing goals in a way and at a pace which builds their personal resilience'.
There are a variety of social prescribing services in the Borough: Be Well Walsall, Making Connections, PCN, Whg, Children’s Champions, Parent-Infant Wellbeing Champions.
Family Hubs are at the heart of support for children & young people in Walsall. In just 12 months, over 9,634 people visited one of our 4 hubs. They're a vital space for 0–19s (up to 25 with additional needs) to get help, advice & connection 👉walsallfamilyhubs.co.uk/
