Milestone Moment for Walton and Frinton Lifeboat Station
We’re proud to share that volunteer crew member Dale Steggles has successfully completed his helm assessment — becoming Walton and Frinton’s first ever qualified Helm.
This marks a significant step forward for the station as we prepare to bring our D class lifeboat into operational service. The result is a testament not only to Dale’s commitment, but also to the countless hours of training, support and teamwork from the crew over
the past nine months as we transition to this new class of vessel.
This achievement brings us one step closer to returning to service.
Please join us in congratulating Dale and the entire team for this remarkable milestone.

Thankfully, the three people on the yacht were able to make their own way into Harwich harbour once the situation had been stabilised.
Thank you for your 33 years of service Ricky! We wish you a very happy retirement.

Little did Ricky know that his last exercise would become his ‘final shout’ to save lives at sea. Whilst out at sea, Ricky and the crew responded to a Pan Pan urgent call from a yacht taking on water just off Walton Pier.

Meet Ricky Farrance, 2nd coxswain at @WaltonRNLI Lifeboat Station. After over 30 years of service, Ricky has retired from the RNLI. But just before he retired, Ricky took the station’s Tamar class lifeboat out to sea for one final exercise.
Many of our crew have enjoyed a course or two with Bernie over the year! Many thanks for your knowledge and wisdom Bernie. #EnjoyTheRest
Great to be back afloat with the @RNLI training team as we said cheerio to Bernie who has trained others to save lives at sea for over 19 years and is finally hanging up his yellow wellies. #savinglivesatsea
