Folks, tomorrow is a very special day! It’s the 25th anniversary of Pardon the Interruption! I’ve been watching Tony Kornheiser and Michael Wilbon since I was 12 years old, and PTI is easily my favorite show on ESPN. It’s the only show I regularly watch because they actually talk about sports! Over the years, Tony and Wilbon have become part of my daily routine. I love Wilbon calling out ESPN and sports fans, Tony answering viewers’ questions, and their back-and-forth debates. Thankfully, they keep politics out of the show most of the time! I also love their classic catchphrases, from Tony’s “Welcome to PTI, boys and girls” to Wilbon’s “Let’s do it” during the Big Finish. And when Tony says at the end “We will try to do better next time” or Wilbon signing off with “Same time tomorrow, knuckleheads!” and “Have a great weekend knuckleheads!” Recently, I found some old episodes from the early 2000s on YouTube. Watching those episodes and the commercials took me back to a completely different world. It’s amazing how much things have changed! The thing that I love most now is that they both genuinely care about one another. Congratulations to Tony, Wilbon, and everyone involved with Pardon the Interruption on 25 years of great sports television! Here’s to many more years of PTI!
